Anyone from this area know of a place to take your car to wash it? Like a bay with a high pressure washer and so on? I don't want to take it to one of those places and have some clowns wash it, my brother lives to far away to just show up and wash/wax, and my complex doesn't have an area.

I found a decent mudding spot on the way home from work and just had too.

The passenger side is worse and the mini-snow fall we had the other day attracted more random crap to the mud.

Supposed to snow again tonight? My first experience driving in it the other day was interesting. At least I wasn't one of the cars in the ditches haha. Baltimore is a bit of a drive too. I found one near Lorton but it was expensive, old, and the water pressure was disappointing. I had a bucket with soap and scrubbies with me but I need to get all the mud blasted off first and that wasn't going to do it.

I pooped a brick when I saw this the other day. Living in Florida for most of my life, this was something new haha.

You will be beyond fine in a subaru as long as you have at least all season tires, they are saying 1-4in here in baltimore so you guys may have a bit more. There has to be one close though not everyone in fairfax is that lazy (i think....)

Ah, the wife will be happy about that. I may have to keep in touch with you about automotive events in the DMV area. I plan on buying a Volvo 240 from early 90s and making it a project car for AutoX and other things.

I can't think of a single one in Fairfax. Actually, right now I'm having a hard time thinking of one in Loudoun.

Don't hit a Subaru with a pressure washer - you won't have any paint left.

Believe me I know that already. I had a bird crap on my car while I was out on a 3 day exercise in the Keys. Needless to say, a combo of the crap, salty air, and my luck when I went to wash the car it had etched itself a nice pattern into my paint. Get to my dad's garage, do a bit of wetsanding with 2000 grit and maybe 2 seconds in we burnt through the clear. Dealership told me to do things to myself when I complained.

And yes, I've scoured this city and surrounding area and can't find one. Baffles me, has me thinking though for potential business opportunities haha.

These types of businesses take a bit of space, real estate is not cheap in that area, and the customer base may be relatively small due to a high percentage of single family residences instead of apartments/condos. Boils down to the cost to own a business vs. income it will bring. My guess is that there aren't any because there are more profitable businesses that can occupy the same space.

Also the EPA is worrying city officials and making it very hard to get permits and business licenses for car washes in a lot of areas.

Rednecks aren't allowed in Fairfax. Your best bet is a professional mobile detailer or Car Pool.

It was just jibber jabber, nothing to take too seriously. I'm only in this place for a year and back to Florida.

I also hate paying people to do things I'm perfectly capable of doing. Our main reason for even moving to Fairfax was for my wife's convenience. Plenty of places for her to work, shop, and her doctors for the child. I would have been fine in Hoodbridge, Alexandria, or closer to Ft. Belvoir.

This post is five years old so who knows if the information is still valid: http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/30516.html

I did a search on 'fairfax va self serve car wash' and a Google map popped up with several spots, but I suspect they are the automatic kind.

Didn't think you were serious, just trying to reason out why there don't seem to be any nearby. I'm somewhat familiar with the area, but have been away for about 20 years (quite happily I'll add).

Just find an apartment complex that has an area and use it. Nobody's going to know that you don't live there. :)

We did the same thing then drove to all of them. Most of them are of the automatic variant and/or with people manning them. I'll check that site out and see if there is any validity. Thanks for the help guys!

The stock tires that came on my WRX are not so good for the snow. Not even a little bit of snow.
