I have been waiting on painting my flatbed trailer because I don't really have a place to shoot solvent-based rust-oleum legally or safely, but then I picked up a gallon of Sherwin Williams DTM paint which is a water-based acrylic metal primer. It was $2 at the surplus store
I'm not really against the white color, but are there ways for me to tint it in case I want a different color? Food coloring maybe?
Is it actually white, or white tint base?
Both. It says right on it, gloss white, then gives the volume as "1 US Gallon before color is added"
It also says, "may be tinted before using"
Take it to Sherwin Williams and hope you get a cool counter person.

Don't use yellow 6. You might be allergic like me.
I was thinking just enough Red 5 to make it bright pink

I wonder if you could use RIT fabric dye? I would worry about whatever you use being UV stable. I'd also think you could go try your local Arts & Crafts store and probably get paint dye.
Barns are red due to rust flakes being mixed in the whitewash
