Is expected to make a full recovery.
Thank goodness. Met him when I was 14. On a flight back to Charlotte while retuning from a school field trip. When he heard there was a school group on the plane he came back and signed autographs. Good guy.
And also, Wooooooo!
Dammit. Ric Flair. Auto correct.
Back in the 1980s, besides wrestling out of Charlotte he was also wrestling with the AWA in Minneapolis. One time I had to fly from Minneapolis to Charlotte for business, and Ric Flair was on the same plane. When he got on the plane he wearing a neck brace and limping (he had been 'injured' in a match in Minneapolis the night before), but when we landed in Charlotte a few hours later the neck brace was gone and he was walking fine.
I imagine when a wrestler was working in two different associations back then, they had to be careful not to mix up the story lines going on in each one.
He is lucky to be alive simply based on his admitted decades of alcohol abuse. Not to mention surviving an airplane crash and probably nearly getting caught with other men’s wives or gf’s who wanted ride Space Mountain.
