Does anybody on here I need some tools, or know somebody that does? Doing some cleaning out in the shop, figure if there's somebody just getting started that needs some tools, I would be happy to pass along duplicates and extras. After seeing how much can be put in a flat rate box, wouldn't mind helping somebody that is just getting started.
That's really nice of you.
I could snag a few things for a project.

I need to expand my Metric wrench sets, but I don't really need to get them mailed to me unless you absolutely need to get rid of stuff
It's primarily wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc., basic stuff that I've found in cars, bought cheap sets & upgraded, etc. Figured if there was someone out there just getting into playing with cars & needed some tools, or if someone has gone through some crap and lost what they had, I'd be happy to pack a flat rate box full of stuff and send it to them.
As I've noticed in racing, you've always got to have "ambassadors" to the sport, that work to get the next generation involved, help them overcome barriers and hopefully realize the passion. I figure the same thing is true in the GRM world. Educate the next generation, let them know why what we do is cool, how they can do the same thing, and get them started. I found out my nephew's son loves cars, so had him come out to Road Atlanta while we were running the Lemons race last month, he loved it. He got to see someone he knows in a driver's suit, we walked through the paddock, and everyone that wasn't thrashing on a car gladly let him look at their race car and offered to let him sit in it. He was over the moon. Last year I gave away a few cars. One was to a couple that wanted to work on cars together. The cherry went to Christopher, who brought it to the challenge last year. He just came and got another car from me when he decided he enjoyed it so much that he wants to go faster for next year :) I didn't come from a car background, my dad viewed cars as utilitarian. The Dukes of Hazzard changed everything for me. I don't know what might be the trigger for the next person, but if I can help, I want to. That way there is someone to watch when I get too old to do it myself
I'd call your local Big Brothers/Big Sisters chapter and see if they have a match that would be interested getting their hands on some extra tools.
Years ago I put all my extra stuff in a tote and made it the tool fairy box. Wrote on the top "Tool Fairy, take what you need, give what you don't and pass it on". Not sure what ever happened to it, but cleaned up my stuff and made me feel good. Probably in the back of some jerk's garage but that is on his conscience.
I have a lot of old sockets that aren't sets but lots of williams and other us brands as well as offshore things. I would gladly pack up a flat rate box for someone who wants to cover shipping, sort, keep what they need and pass along the rest
