Hahaha, that's hilarious.

The compensation was pretty insane. Pay range was $150-160k/yr, + RSU's that took 4 years to fully vest, + a sign-on bonus paid in cash for the first two years in addition to your pay to make up for RSU's not vesting at the first few years. Health insurance that matches what I have here at NetSuite + unlimited PTO.

Add that to my fiance's salary, making a combined $210k+ with no kids and no real debt beside the house, the Mazda 3, and my upcoming BRZ..........in OKC.......pretty high standard of living plus being able to sock away money for retirement and take regular vacations.

unlimited PTO.

When a company offers this, it virtually always means that it's the kind of job where taking above-average amounts of vacation (or perhaps any vacation at all) would be very bad for your career.

Disagree. NetSuite offers unlimited PTO for salaried positions (it used to be for Tech Writers as well, but we switched from salary to hourly when the takeover was final). Which for me was like 2 weeks after I started.

Management doesn't care when/how much vacation you take as long as you present for the required meetings and getting your work done to high a standard. And even us hourly people start late/leave early for to take care of things without using PTO. Not technically by the book, but again, the managers don't care as long as you get your stuff done.

Sorry to hear it. Are you a member of the Society for Technical Communication? They have a job board -- I haven't been to it for a couple years but it had a decent amount of jobs posted last time I did.

Not in many years. When I worked for L-3 Communications, they got me a year membership, but as I was still in Defense/Manufacturing, and it's almost all tech/software (or was 10+ years ago) I didn't see a point in them keeping it going.

May need to look into it again.
