Working on a plan that will let the dog stay home with Mrs. Deuce this summer so that the kids and I can get into shenanigans. That requires a dog door to be installed in one of our doors. Problem is I don't have a clue about dog doors. Any advice?

I choose to put a cat hole through our wall rather than through a door. Of course our cat hole is for interior access to the basement without leaving the door open. Point being, I would rather fix a bit of dry wall than buy a new door.
Try to put it in a room that you can isolate (has an inner door) out of necessity mine is in my office which is open to the kitchen and my feet are always cold in winter and hot in summer. Pony up extra money for one that has double flaps to help keep some of the weather out.
The walls of my house are 6 inches of poured concrete. It's got to be through a door. The door into the kitchen faces the road and I'd rather not broadcast ingress that loudly. That leaves the door into my living room as the only real option. It is what it is. Door is old and crappy and Mrs. Deuce would like me to replace it. Perfect for this type of experiment.
It's easy to find cat doors that require a collar with a sensor, but I'm having trouble finding equivalent small/medium dog doors. The dog is question is beagle size.
How feasible would it be to have the dog spend the day(s) in the garage instead of the house? That way you just have to put a dog door into the garage instead?
We have a cat door going from a closet in the office to the basement stairs landing. From there the cat can go thru another cat door in one of the basement windows. Problem with our arrangement is a raccoon has come into the house twice in the last week. Woke up at 4am on both occasion to loud noises coming up from the first floor. First trip in he ate a basket of candy and my cats food. Last night he got into a cage we keep crickets in for feeding my daughters skinks. Made a mess both nights and now the basement is full of crickets. Need to look into getting one of those doors that only unlocks for the cat thats wearing the coded cat collar. Either that, or catch the coon and relocate it. Worried it might have babies this time of the year thou.

She has abandonment issues. She's generally ok inside when I'm running around during the day, but if you mess up her routine she loses her mind. If she figures out she's left home alone outside she will climb the fence to go looking for you. We're hoping that allowing her to go back inside to a place she feels safe will calm her. There is still a fairly signinicant chance I'll be taking her this summer because she won't be able to handle it. Such is life with a mentally ill dog.
