In Atlanta, you can RENT them...
I've seen at least twenty places called Rent-A-Rim.

The "hood rich" BMW thing basically describes my idea for a lady-pulling car on a grassroots budget.
I have to do the 10 year old BMW thing because the don't make their X series SAV with a manual transmission anymore. Oh yah and I'm cheap.

I work on a of of big wheel cars here in So FL. The recent trend is to performance drivetrains. Built small blocks and big blocks, higher stall converters, tranny coolers, 3.73-4.10 gear sets in posi rears etc. are not unusual. However improved braking has not become popular.
I never thought I'd have a use for this pic of a 91 Caprice ex police "bubble" I did a lot of work on a couple months ago.

I want to see a donk try to do four wheeling on a power line right of way.

I once walked into one of those places and asked how much it would cost to rent a set of Hoosier A6s for one weekend, just to see the looks on their faces.

I've always thought the ultimate Detroit vehicle/general purpose winter beater would be an old donk with truck wheels and tires and a 6.2 truck diesel. Practically free to build and cheap to run.

"Hello, sir, I was wondering if you could tell me the price to rent a set of four 18 by 10 Volk TE37s and 315/40R18 Hoosier A6s for one weekend?"
LOL
lol oh man, you guys had me tearing up a couple times. and just when I was feeling hood rich about my recent 17x9 purchase you guys saved it with that sexy bmw and the rent-a-hoosiers. made me feel right at home again. I love this place.

Meh... ^^^That is classy looking.
This on the other hand...
... is the kinda crap I am talking about that you can guarantee is on the "Deferred Maintenance Program".
I kinda fell into the "ghetto rich" look with my old ti. I used to drive around in my BMW with the windows down.. but only because I removed the working airconditioner because I hate Air Con and never used it
I wonder if I could rent some 30x12r16 Kumho Ecsta SPT's for a weekend? Now that I would spend some hood dolluh-billllzzz on.
I once had 18's on a lifted truck with street tires... It was advertisement to sell the rims. I bought them for 400 doubled my money in a week off a gangster that put them on drunk or something, didn't torque them and one fell off 4 days later. I donated some loctite and went on. I steer clear of rims larger than 16 unless they cost less than the tires on them.
Gearheadotaku wrote: In reply to Anti-stance: I've had an A8 come in with 4 different size and brands of tire on it. (at least the rimz matched) The custom interior was snazzy though
First job out of the Navy was a car dealership. I bought some decent solid aluminum rims from one of the "playa's" there that were on his Cutlass for my Camaro. Same thing, 4 different types, brands and sizes of tires. I thought the wheels fell off at least once on the way home it handled so badly!
I drove that beast at Summit Point. It actually handled surprisingly well once you got over the terrifyingly stiff/bouncy ride, but holy E36 M3 was it slow on the straights- those big wheels geared it way, way too high. Easy to work under too!
On a related note, am I the only one who wants to buy one of these, sell the wheels, and put on some 15" beadlocks with mud tires?

Goddamnit. I'm disappointed I didn't do it first. The "Donkey Hong" was discussed a few years ago. Never got off the ground.
