At 112,000 miles, I have owned this '07 Prius for nearly 35k miles. I don't remember ever personally replaced the cabin air filter myself and wonder if it has EVER been replaced.

Funny you mention this. We changed the Forte's filter the weekendbefore. Smells soooooo much better inside now. Luckily it only had 48k miles on it.
I had a mouse build a nest on top of the Vibes cabin air filter over the course of a weekend. Man that pissed me off. I need to figure out how he got in there in the first place.
When I took over my wifes GX470 I noticed that the blower fan was really anemic. Changing the cabin air filter took care of it. Like yours, I kinda doubt it'd ever been changed in 113k miles...

You must be professionally lazy. That takes like 5 minutes to change.

Professionally, no. Personally, yes. :)

Fair enough. My phrasing was ambiguous; perhaps I should have said "a laziness professional." Does that work better? :)

Oh I know, just giving you a hard time. After ditching the track car, I got used to not having to work on stuff, so I'm just extra lazy about it now.
I changed a dozen or so cabin filters when I briefly worked at a shop. People generally would wait until they couldn't stand the smell anymore to change them out. I pulled some legit Petri dishes out.
Also, some filters are super easy to change out; pop the glove box door out and it's right there. Some required disassembly of the center console waterfall, 3 elbows and standing on your head to get to the filter.
I'm glad I'm not doing that anymore
I put an Advance Auto brand filter in my Mazda. I didn't put it together right away, but it caused some serious problems with the AC (I thought it had gone bad). Changed to an OEM filter, and it improved a bunch. It's still not a great AC, but I was surprised that a filter could make as much difference as it did.
I just changed the one in SWMBO Scion tc as part of the maintenance I've been doing to it. Spark plugs and valve cover gasket will be Saturday and that will wrap it all up nicely.

Yeah, well, I started off by giving you a hard time, so I guess we're even. ;)
Anyone retrofit a cabin air filter? My 95 Silverado has a partially blocked ac evaporator and box from debris, and id prefer to make life better during the repair.

i don't know that there's actually any place to park a filter, but saw a writeup on GMFullSize (or something) where the guy opened the evaporator box, doused it with home A/C Condensor Coil Cleaner spray, and then hosed it out (he put trash bags down to keep the carpet dry and move water out the door), which seemed to help. My '96 Tahoe had an odor that I was able to mostly mask with a vent fogger/deododizer spray I got at the FLAPS.
I doubt mine has a filter.
I did have to cover up dead mouse with hawaiian fragrance several months back though. That was fun.

Some are easier than others.
I finally got the Honda Pilot's changed. Cutting out part of the dash board is fun.
I guess that is why it wasn't on the dealers check list when the airbag got changed.
It wasn't to bad at 175K.
