I just got done watching The Dukes of Hazard. Even though it cost me multiple sets of ball joints in my 78 Chevy truck from jumping it and more sets of tires than I can count, I still enjoy that corny show. Bad acting, primitive stunts and all. Makes me want to see if a Roadmaster Wagon can fly.
The really heartwarming part is my 7 and 11 year old boys LOVE it. I'm going to have to set up the DVR to record it for them. Then again I remember all the crazy stuff I did. Maybe I should ban them from ever seeing it again.

Its a great show. More wholesome than any of the trash on TV now, and decent car chases to boot.
Makes me kinda wished I lived in Hazzard county.
I haven't watched it in a while. I have four seasons on DVD. After that, Coy and Vance show up and things just get weird.
Remember the episode where they were smuggling race motors through Hazard in old beaters? Awesome.
I too enjoy some simple auto-pron once in a while.

Forced me to by a 69 Charger at 18 years old for $1000. That didn't get you a whole lot of car back in 85 but that was probably a good thing. Even a tired 440 could get you into a lot of trouble.
The first 6 shows, on location in Georgia, were awesome. The show had a little more seriousness to it. That show made me believe cars could and did fly.

I watched the whole series from end to end, I even remember Enos and Daisy getting married and someone going to LA. Loved it, although I think my favorite episode was when they installed Cale Yarlborogh's turbocharger on the General.
True story - my first day on a new job, I walked into the IT department and there was a photo of a yellow Roadrunner on the wall. I said "Hey, that's just like the one Daisy Duke had until the boys drove it off a cliff! Then she got her Jeep."
Turns out this was not required information to share. They got used to me.
The weird thing is that in the show, Hogg and Coltrane are the comic fools and the boys are, well, two good ol' boys. But in the movie, Hogg and Coltrane are evil and the boys are idiots. I think that kinda sums up what went wrong.
I have to say that a replica General Lee is still on my bucket list of cars I want to own. I came damn close to buying one several times.
The movie did nothing for me other than watching Jessica Simpson run around in a pair of Daisy Dukes. Not particularly something I want my kids watching either. At least the TV show has some kind of morality to it.
I had a Dodge Colt that I used to get air with on a hilly road near my house. I think DoH has something to do with that.

I almost bought a General Lee replica back in 1991 or 1992 for the princely sum $2200. For better or worse, I decided the trunk was a little too rusty... If only I'd known...
That said, even a 383 4 bbl a/t was way more engine than I needed at 20 years old. Hell, I'd probably still get myself into trouble with one...

I doubt that this was just a coincidence:
