Ok so some of you may know I'm off to Afghanistan soon, I want to take a ton of movies but not a ton of DVDs. I've got about 300 dvds to rip and convert to about 700mb each, decent quality and doesn't take up too much HDD space. Now what software are you guys using? This is for a PC.
DVD Fab basically a one stop shop for ripping DVDs I've even ripped "protected" disks with it.
Handbrake
You'll have to downgrade to get em to 700 megs--default size is about 3 gigs
ok i thought that was slang like hold on
do I need to download the CLI and The GUI?
Nevermind I read the top of the download page ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
I've never used the PC version of Handbrake, but the Mac version rocks.
Well right now I'm encoding Hero, not having a progress bar is kind of weird.
why downgrade when you can get a 500gig HDD for about $50 and make it external for just a little more (or you can buy a proper external for about the same i suppose haha)
I bought an external, 320 gig and still downgrading makes room for more stuff, like music and tv shows and what not.
buy.com has a 1tera external for $100. You might want that instead of a 320g.
I've run into that 290 hours sort of stuff myself. Haven't successfully overcome it yet.
