Well, this is a new one for me...

Just found an item on Ebay that I felt I should probably own, so I hit 'Buy it Now", and was ready to do the PayPal thing.

However, I was greeted by an error message stating that the item was "unshippable to the specified address".

Huh. I've had vehicles bought off of Ebay shipped to this address before, and all I'm trying to buy now is a damn hat.

So I check the seller's shpiping info, and it says "Ships to: World-wide". Okay, the item is in New Jersey, and I am in Ohio, so that to me falls under the category of "world-wide". What the berkeley???

Then, I look a bit closer... Underneath the "world-wide" bit was a list of "excluded" areas that the seller will not ship to. The list of excluded areas is ---

Africa

Asia

Central America and Caribbean

Europe

Middle East

South America

Southeast Asia

North America

Apparently I need to live next-door from this seller to be able to buy from him.

I apologize for the rant, but it was a pretty bitchin' hat.

I think Russia counts as Asia, and Europe.

Pics of the hat in question?
Bonus points: the last two hats I've bought, one was magical and awesome, the other cursed.
Interestingly, both vintage NY Rangers trucker hats.

Probably an accident on the part of the seller, especially given how tricky and difficult ebay is with regards to shipping descriptions. Contact him and see.

He does ship worldwide, he's obviously just not on this planet

This is true, I have mine set for us shipping only but last time I listed us only it ended up being Brazil and Guatemala only (or something similar). Way to mess up a good thing eBay by complicating the process to no end.

What's annoying is when they say the have fast shipping and they are in China. Fast is 2-3 weeks.

eBay is not going to care. China keeps eBay in business now

Then I wonder if Alibaba will replace eBay.

I've purchased eBay items from Hong Kong. They said 2-3 weeks, but arrived in under 2. IDK if I'm brave enough to buy from mainland China yet .

I've bought some cheap LED offroad lights (2 lightbars, 4 pairs of floodlights and 2 massive spot lights) and all of them shipped from China. Yeah, it's a bit of a wait but all of them arrived no later than 2.5 weeks.

Amazon is irritating as well. Since I'm deployed to a country that uses the european 220V standard, I've been trying to buy a damn utility vacuum since I can't find one locally. Most of the items are marked multiple times "WILL NOT WORK IN US OR CANADA - 220V" but the seller doesn't ship outside the US or doesn't ship to APO addresses. Why the hell would I buy a 220V appliance in the US? Stupid
