Here's a bit of advice from someone getting divorced from someone that I was desperate to get with. Don't get into a relationship you're desperate to get into. Don't fight to keep it together for years when it clearly isn't working like it should.

I'm not looking forward to being alone, but it will give me time to get my own life straight, not worry about getting 2 lives straight.

I also made the mistake of marrying the first woman that stuck around for more than a couple of months. She was as desperate for a relationship as I was, so it seemed like a good idea at the time, and I expected it to work out and last long term. Obviously, I was quite naive when I was first dating her.

Tinder isn't bad if you're not expecting anything outside of hook ups and short term dating. That's what the app is mostly used for.

I met my wife through OKCupid.com. That's where I'm meeting new women to hang out with. One of these days, I'll be in a state of mind in which I won't have problems going up to a girl and striking up a conversation, but that's not going to be happening for a while.

In reply to Derick Freese:

I agree with that. My g/f and I stayed together for 11 years - probably 8 years too long - simply because both of us were comfortable in our misery.
