I have zero problem with the poaching of the poachers.
The lives of the elephants are more valuable IMHO.
Hmmm make it legal to hunt pouchers or maybe even offer bounties.
AFAIK, there are some African countries that allow the killing of poachers.

Sport hunters finance the rangers. If it weren't for hunters, most of the African big game species would already be extinct.
It's a matter of simple economics, sport hunters pay much more for the privilege (several times), than poachers can sell the meat for in the towns.
Thus funding conservation efforts, to keep a viable population available for future hunters.

They just need to get that jerk who runs GoDaddy interested in hunting The Most Dangerous Game...
I was going to try and write a pithy post filled with contextual reference to the Pitbull thread...but Im tired, and that sh!tty thread just annoys me now.

That's not just exotic locations.....I have heard - but cannot find a reference off hand to confirm - that most of the state conservation money in FL comes from the sale of hunting and fishing licences.

....and I want you to know that I was a wee bit disappointed that nobody seemed the least bit surprised when a GRMer knew something about species-specific differences in the artificial insemination of elephants
I suspect several members know a thing or two about animal husbandry. Some haven't even been caught at it.

Hey, nothing like that. The elephant breeding program for Ringling Bros. is nearby, and I've talked to one of their people about it. A lot of their work is with trying to improve artificial insemination in asian elephants. (....which would be useful to zoos and conservation programs, too.)

Great organization, you should consider donating if you can. I want to go over and volunteer with them at some point.
There was a recent Time article about how 2 rhino species have been declared extinct in the course of a month. (Javan and Western Black if I remember correctly)

It's legal to kill them in some countries. There are people in this world that only understand force....
