After way too may test drives and way too much overthinking, I finally bought a car! To top it off, it's not even a model I've ever test-driven! LOL

2013 Chevrolet Sonic LT w/1.8 & 5-speed. 27k miles. A mere $10,000 + TTP. Under $12k all done. The only button that it doesn't push is that it's gray, but at least it's an interesting shade of gray.

The 1.4T might have been better, but the 1.8s seem to depreciate quicker.

I'll fly to Phoenix next week to pick it up.

Thank you all for putting up with all the nonsense of my purchase

You went through alllllll that drama for a Sonic? A non turbo one? I'm sitting here trying to figure out a way to not make fun of you but I can't think of one.
At least let me cut out some cool stickers for it. Please?

I like 1 & 4 http://vinylimagination.com/Pages/Automotive/Chevrolet/Sonic/Sonic-2012-Hatch-Main.php

Maybe in a bright color like orange or bright blue then do the rear spoiler in the same color.

I actually enjoyed the posts you started as it overlapped some interests and questions of mine.

I am happy that you did find something. Congrats

I'm old. I don't quite trust turbos for daily drivers. I'm also really suspect of any turbocharged car that doesn't come from the factory with a boost gauge.

iadr wrote: The thing I could never figure with your requirements was mileage. I never consider gas mileage, as a buyer or owner. Too many abominations made by manufacturers chasing a figure to advertise.

I know, based on a lifetime of driving cars with normally-aspirated engines and manual transmissions, that I can probably match the MPG numbers of the 1.4T with the 1.8. I don't like spending money on gas for commuting and errands. And I like taking road trips without worrying about my gas expenses eating into fun money.

I'd honestly prefer something smaller, but there's no smaller cars that I believe in. The Sonic will be 1.5' shorter than the '90 Integra I'm driving now, but 4" longer than the Scion xB I just sold. Bigger cars feel like a waste to me.

Oh, and as for vinyl... anyone who recommends adding vinyl to a DD for me has never seen what the heat and UV does to vinyl in the Las Vegas weather. If I'm lucky, even top-grade vinyl would last 2 years at best out here.

At least Chevrolet sonic has a much cooler ring to it than Holden barina... Which is what they are in Australia.

Yea, I would set their dealership on fire if I was handed the keys to that in that condition.....

Yeah, I asked the sales dork about that. He told me "We wanna get them up on the website as soon as we can." I told him that was their choice, but they really ought to reconsider their policy of "pics first, then detail."
