If it's an engine problem and not a fuel or ignition problem, you probably don't want to know how much it'll cost to rebuild that engine...
My friend just bought a XJS v12 with a no-start condition. Someone has replaced the fuel lines on the tank/pump but routed them wrong so the fuel pump was just circulating the fuel in the surge tank and not pumping any to the engine.
Once he fixed that and got it running there were some other issues...

This is where I was headed, but if it's something somewhat simple a V12 would be even better. Sounds like that's almost never the case...
