In her never ending struggle to make me one of the cool kids my wife has made a Facebook page to go with my Myspace page. Anyone else have one,It doesn't seem nearly as cool.

My 17 year old son has facebook and myspace. Now all the 45-50 year old ladies that are in our church are getting into facebook, which creeps out my son.

My wife has an issue with putting all that info out there......

I just found out last week that my wife has a Facebook page. Apparently they have cute "puppies" on there...she likes them much better than the real ones!

Facebook jumped the shark when they let all you non-college students in.

It then proceeded to be violated by the same shark when they started with the "application" nonsense. I don't have a Myspace because the layouts made my eyes bleed. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to be creative. Now Facebook is giving it's users more control...

I've got one because it helps me get the ladies... I think.

I have both, and agree with Osterkraut. I originally got them to keep in touch with distant friends. It's like email with pictures.

Facebook used to be more of a directory, but it has evolved into a more complex means of communication. It's quite simple, really; they add applications and stuff so that people will spend more time on it, which equals more time looking at ads and such.

Is there a GRM Facebook group?

I set up a facebook page and reconnected with a whole bunch of friends from high school and university. Very cool, but trying to keep "current" is a real pain in the patootie.

Not that I know of. I still need to update the myspace page.

I have Facebook and sometimes I even use it.

MySpace... I've not touched in months. I hate it.

Dumb question- what's the point of Facebook and MySpace? For an individual, that is.

I've never been able to figure it out.

So you can keep all your (cyber/imaginary) friends appraised of the latest developments in how fabulous you are.

It's a good way to stay vaguely aware of what people on your list are up to without the bother of actually talking to them.

Wally, I just added you to my friends list.

I gave my 15 year old daughter a choice: either MySpace or texting.

She opted for the texting.

I recently got on Facebook. Never had a Myspace page. It's been great for getting back in touch with old friends from college, etc. It's easy to update lots of friends on what we are up to, pics of our son, etc. I've also gotten into playing some of the word games against my Mom and Mother in Law. I like that it is secure in that nobody sees your info, pictures, anything unless you allow them by adding them as a friend. It was funny, my wife listed that I was her husband and it asked for confimation from me before it would update her profile.

Well, from the college standpoint, it's a good way to measure up different social gatherings that one is invited to. "This one has a lot of people I know, but this other one has a much better ratio of females planning on attending, and it's not BYOB." In the same vein, it will indicate the anticipated size of the event, denoted by the number of kegs that will be in attendance.

And I went ahead and made an event page for the Challenge:

There's also virb. Probably the best looking of the social networks, and not yet overrun by kids or old ladies.

Its interesting that it's some kind of "social network" experiment.

As opposed to actually talking. It seems as if this is inteded for your "inner circle" and perhaps "moderate circle" of friends. Ones you would talk with pretty often.

Perhaps I'm just old fashioned. I even find it amusing when I refer to all of you as my "virtual" friends.

Eric

(probably never have facepage or myspace. My space is at my home, and in my car).

My closest friends are all at least 2000 miles away. Face to face meetings don't happen often enough...

I added you wally, i don't really keep current on it, more people add random pics than i do of me. I just have a hard time keeping up to date on all the schools I have attended.

Facebook used to be a lot better when it was just pictures and the wall to write on. Now there is like the super wall, super duper wall, and mega f'ing wall.
