I heard it pointed out somewhere that a Fallout MMORPG would really fly in the face of what the series is about. How are you supposed to feel immersed in a desolate expansive waste, with tons of people running all around? Wouldn't work. Especially when some moron comes bunny hopping from the other direction wearing a power helmet and spring dress, while holding a dart gun.

Now, if they were to give the game a co-op mode, that would kick ass.

And with an unarmed build, I will really need to get myself a deathclaw gauntlet!

I think their are still some glitches to work out. When i confronted the guy who wanted to blow up megaton he killed the sheriff so now i can't buy a megaton house. I ain't got no home....

Actually some believe that Fallout Online will be Isometric view, and may even the the entire USA as a playable map.

Ways they can do this is through randomly generated wastelands, and randomly generated "small towns".

Think about it though. Say you have a few million people playing Fallout Online, but spread them across one hugely expansive map, and you get the feeling your still very alone.

Reason to believe that it may take on a Isometric viewpoint is that because Diablo 3 is doing the same, and will likely be very popular, gives hope that RPG's don't require first person, or even third person views in order to be popular.

Fallout Tactics was in itself not a horribly bad system, but its short length, and "action packed" storyline moved away from what F1&2 originally tried to accomplish. They didn't force you to fight. In fact, with the exception of a few areas, you could go through F2 without firing a shot, or at least by only firing a few times.

Fallout Tactics, by comparison, was all action, and no story.

What many die hard Fallout fans want is a high-resolution, nice looking RPG like the originals, but with the ability to gain to power, buy a house, start a community, and sell stuff to others.

Essentially, you could make an empty map, and let people become the plot.

That is scripted that way. You can still get the house from the Sheriff's son.

Much to my wife's chagrin, my character is just shy of level 13.

I'm addicted. I'm addicted to wandering around the wasteland, Charon at my side with his railway spike gun, taking out super mutants like it's my J-O-B.

Two annoyances.

1: Some of the NPC activity drives me bonkers. For example, in the Republic of Dave, I was telling everyone to vote. So I told the last person and she said 'Ok' and then just stood by the ballot box.

And stood there.

And stood there. I told her again. She stands there. I wait, she stands there. I rest, she stands there. Arrgh.

2: My companions die way too easily. I fight, especially big battles, with attrition. I piss off one, say, super mutant and then dash back to finish him off, then reload, and go for his buddies. But all my associates just kamikaze in like they're braindead. (Because, I guess, they are.) Dogmeat is the worst, but I guess that's ok because he's, you know, a dog. But the rest of them should know better.

But, eh, it's freakin' awesome.

I've been so busy with school I've had hardly any time to play, I'm still not even level 3 (like 3/4 of the way there). I just played for about an hour to wind down after a chem test, the sheriff is now dead, and so is Burke, that dude was hard to kill, glad I had a baseball bat cause I ran out of ammo. Of course then I ransacked both him and the sheriffs bodies so I'm good for ammo and a couple new guns. I need to unload some inventory and build my caps back up a bit.

I also need to get my lockpicking up so I can get into craterside supply. How do you get the dog? Do you have to get to a certain level first? You guys that are getting up there in levels, any tips for those of us that are still starting out (damn school getting in the way of my gaming) whats the best way to level?

I'm in the same boat.

I've been wandering the wastelands looking for better weaponry and what not.

Apparently there are some areas behind (north) of vault 101 that have good stuff.

BTW, No Mutants Allowed has some good mods already in their "Fallout 3 Modding" section, that is for you computer guys.

Craterside supply is open during the day. Something like 8am-8pm. You don't need to pick the lock at all.

see I figured it should be open but every time I have tried it says the door is locked and would require being picked.

Bahahaha

I'm still at Level 5 and I found Dad, now I'm following him to Rivet City and I've only done like 3-4 quests. This is my first time too. Just my luck.

I have been playing this game for a few days now and I haven't even done the third part of the main quests. I guess I have RPG ADD. Tip: Try to find the andriod. You can get one hell of a weapon if you do the right things. Tip #2: Do not launch a Fat Man, Mini Nuke Manually. It has a very high arc and if you dont aim right you tend to kill yourself.

Level 5. Building sort of a covert ops sneaky/small arms character. Just killed every slaver in Paradise Falls. I didn't want to, I wanted to capture me some slaves, but they started shooting at me! The slave in the dress with the sword was a PAIN to kill.

Man, I LOVE VATSing head shots with the hunting rifle.

Hit level 20 (max) a little while ago, and I'm intentionally avoiding the Dad storyline because I don't want the game to "end". Exploring as many side quests as possible, ammo and money aren't an issue any more, either, which is nice.

I was a little bummed to find out there's a level cap, I would have done a few perks differently, I tailored them for faster leveling but since you can't get higher than 20, those perks were essentially wasted opportunities to get "real" perks. If I play through again, I'll know.

Haven't bothered with any companions, I got the dog but sent him to wait at the vault, seems like they'd just slow things down.
