Favorite kid-friendly device to add Disney+ to a tv?

The grandparents want to get out kids disney+for Christmas this year.  Unfortunately, our LG tv is one year too old to install the native app on.

I haven't kept up with the add on market as I really only use the TV rarely, and with Netflix or Prime (which work with the native apps).  I was looking to add something like a chromecast or fire stick.

Extra points awarded for things that don't have a separate remote and can be used by a 5 year old.

I use a chromecast and my phone is the remote.

Fire Stick is $30, turns the tv on and off, and works very well. You'll probably be able to use that remote alone for everything, assuming your cable provider has an app. 

Roku.  Has a separate remote, but can be voice controlled or via phone app, can control TV with proper HDMI port (ARC).

My 4 year old can work it just fine.  The 2 year old already knows how to turn the volume up/down.

Disney+ account can also be viewed on tablet, phone, computer.  

For me, if I were to pull up Disney+ on a tablet I can then cast the tablet to my TV so as to be able to watch it on a bigger screen.  

Does your 1 year too old LG have this ability to catch what the tablet casts?  

This also assumes that your kids have access to tablet.

Fire Stick Lite. I snagged one for the downstairs projector, the kids use it just fine. My 75 year old Father-in-law figured it out in minutes and has been happily watching PluteTV news since we don't have cable TV.

The last Roku I had seemed underpowered, but that was years ago.

The only tablet we have is an old 4th (?) gen iPad (first one with a lightning connector) that's about 6 or 7 years old.  It doesn't have the ability to load the Disney+ app, I don't believe. I know we can't use the Prime streaming app on it.   I don't think it can cast to the TV.  My phone can, but I don't want to get woken up at 6:30 to cast a show from my phone to the TV, and I don't want to get my kids their own phones yet.

The TV does have HDMI wih ARC, so that's a good thing for this use.  I'm taking a closer look at the FireStick & FireStick lite, thanks!

Honestly I love the remotes for Apple TV, Roku, and the fire stick. All of them turn the tv on and off and control the volume, which is literally everything I want on the remote after setup. So you will only use the one remote. 

Note that the fire lite stick does not control the tv, so you’ll want the regular one. 

We use an Amazon Fire Stick.  You picked a good time, they should be cheap ala black Friday.  My 6 yr old navigates around it well.

Roku also doesn't get hung up in issues with licensing like Amazon does.

Looks like the Roku is winning if it can control the tv power and volume as well.  The licensing thing makes a lot of sense to avoid the Amazon offering.  Good call Stefan.

We have multiple ROKU and our 4 year old can navigate it to all the apps on his own. Disney, prime, netflix, and hulu.  yes it uses two remotes but once he turns on the tv with that remote all he uses is the roku remote.
