As the title says, I'm looking for people favorite organizer for keeping the cargo area of their SUV near and tidy.

I'm tired of having the basic clutter in the back of my Jeep WK rolling around. The type of stuff that I  normally have back there is oil (it leaks and burns some between changes), rags, water bottles, maybe a hoodie, hat, umbrella, and flashlight.

Other thing that may ride around back there for will depend on the season, bike helmet and gear, snowboards and associated gear, and/or fishing gear.

I also end up with kids hockey gear, football gear, and the results of supermarket trips.

If I go mountain biking and just have my bike, I fold the seats down and put it in the back instead of using a bike rack. So it needs to be movable.

I saw a couple like this  from Amazon, but figured there are probably other ideas that might work better.

I'm looking forward to the suggestions.

My solution for how to keep the cargo area neat/tidy: keep all my stuff in the back seat or passenger footwell. smiley

The 'floor' in the back of the Golf is covered with a non-woven felt-like material rather than actual carpeting, and the hook side of Velcro sticks seriously well to it.  Some cheap plastic angles w/ Velco on the bottom work very well to fence in a cooler and keep it from sliding around.  DIY might be to take actual stamped steel book ends and epoxy Velcro to the bottom (the sew-on kind, I would NOT trust any that comes adhesive backed).  Plushier carpet or anything heavier than a cooler may require more contact area, or may not work at all.

Beyond that I try for 'modularity', usually with multiple of the smallest Harbor Freight tool bags.  One bag would be tire-change stuff (mechanics gloves, lug sockets, etc); another bag would be other general tools; 3rd bag is paper towels, nitrile gloves, hand cleaner/sanitizer, additional First Aid, etc.  HF stopped selling their rectangular canvas rigger's bags, but I have an old one for really heavy and dirty stuff (hitch, chains, crappy flat tow strap).

Rant of the day , or a thread on its own: why do mfgs still put "map pockets" on the backs of the front seats?

In reply to Oapfu :

Thank you for the suggestions. I may go to HF while waiting for the kiddo to take placement tests for HS  today.

As for the map pocket, I have a Peter Egan book that stays in there to read while waiting. The short stories are perfect for intermittent reading.
