I was just thinking about getting a new fish tank. Its been 10 years or so since I've had one so what do y'all have?

I used to have a 30 gallon when I lived with my grandma, but I left it there because she enjoyed the company.

Now I have a 5-gallon that sits on the counter with a few mollies and a plecostomus. I won't buy a big tank again until I'm in a house that I own.

I like having a tank.

I'm in the very lengthy process of setting up a 200gal reef tank. Slow going because I have to reconstruct the wall its going in before I can set up the tank and build a custom steel base to hold it.

Should be nice...some day.

I kept aquaria for years. Quit after my 45 spontaneously drained in my family room.

Got a little 10-gallon tank in the kid's room. Couple of Corydoras, some tetras and danios. Surprisingly, nothing has croaked in that time....

Nothing, but I'd like to set up a decent sized tank say 40-55 gallon.

What would I be looking at to buy tank, top of the line filtering equipment, etc?

I've got about 6 fish tanks sitting in the garage. I'm waiting until the kids are a little older until I set them back up.

I'm going to start with a 20g long tank and do some small native fish to start, because I have a cast net and they are free.

We have one of these with a couple of fish in it. Big advantage of the tank is that it is cat proof, however we lost the only cat that was interested in the tank anyway.

We're about to move house and the new house (much bigger than what we have now) will probably get a couple more tanks.

I kept 2 50 gallon freshwater tanks for 15 years for the late Mrs. Ditchdigger. When she passed I got rid of them and have mot missed them at all. The constant trickling noise, the extra 30 to 50$ a month on the electrical bill, the weekly cleanings, water quality tests, food, filters and all that crap.

Come to think of it I really resented them and am happy that they are no longer hanging over my head.

Just an opposing opinion about aquarium ownership. I kept those damn boxes of water in the house for nigh on 2 decades and wouldn't allow them back in the house again.
