Saw the first few episodes on the Travel Channel.  Interesting old campers.  Guy and his wife made a business of their hobby, unlike Velocity there are no tantrums, egos or silly deadlines.  It moves better if you tape it and FF through the commercials and recaps.

Almost makes me want to do a nice trailer project.

That looks interesting. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

I think that is the show I used to see.   I loved to watch what they did, but if you see what they charge for the average reno, you would think cars are cheap.

BTW Spartan trailers are awesome.

Yeah.  The last episode I saw they started their own line of canned hams, nice, but $60k is a big bite.

Flyte Camp trailers.

I tried to flip an RV once. I had a 1978 Pace Arrow 38' motorhome almost given to me on the promise that I give the owner a cut of the sale. I fixed it up quite nice and listed it at $7k. There were plenty of phone calls, but no serious buyers. Two years later I finally dropped the price to $2k and had even less calls. Sold it for pretty much what I had put in it and swore off the idea. I went back to flipping cars which paid much better for way less work.

The thing is, the old campers like what are on that show are the only ones you can make money on. There are so many modern campers today that fixing up anything made in the last 40 years and trying to flip it is near pointless.

The market for Campers is strong here on The nature coast . The Nuke plant and gas plant have made the rental market go Krazy here in Discover Citrus County !

And new campers depreciate like a sonofabitch.

It was my understanding that most old RVs and travel trailers were made in a such a way that they weren't really designed to last very long. Things like thin fiberglass or tin slapped over cheap wooden body structures that all rots away. As a result you can restore one but it means you have to replace most of it to do so. And then we're back to nobody wanting to actually buy it when you're done.

When it comes to flippin' RVs, inexperience can be an asset. Wait, maybe I'm thinking about the wrong type of flippin'.

Depends who built them and what era they were built in . A lot of antique campers were built with steel frames and aluminum or stainless bodies, with a wooden sub structures. A lot of people traveled to climates that don’t rot these trailers and stayed, so people find these time capsules hiding next to a barn or behind a house somewhere.

When the late 60’s and early 70’s came along, they started getting made cheaply and weren’t meant to last a long time.

Modern campers are built well, but are still not perfect. Depending on the brand, the quality of the craftsmanship and materials can truly be lacking.
