Big Storm brewing is making an appearance. Nice big ole charcuterie board being built. Got some smoked mullet dip from I.C. Sharks on Gandy. Finally I think I'll make some spaghetti from Dad's recipe (he got it when Grandpop was stationed in Italy)

I've got a whole metric berkeleypile of whiskey both American and otherwise. Other than that, whatever I have laying around.
Hurricane? What hurricane? I see only a slightly rotating rain storm. I don't break out the party stuff until there is at least a Cat 3 heading our way.
Caipirinhas! Are they a lot better with fresh limes? Absolutely! But I was lazy and didn't want to go to the grocery store.

Those sound great. I'm going to try that some time. Should I use regular limes or would my Key limes work well?
In reply to Mr_Asa :
I think Key limes would work very well. The cachaca is very grassy so pretty much any citrius fruit works but lime is traditional.

Come on. Lighten up Francis...not like Brazil has a lot going for it other than Coronavirus & burning down rainforests. Now you wanna take this away from them?

And by things, I mean pickling my liver.
I finally found cachaca at one of our local stores. I enjoyed caipirinhas when I was in Tampa a while back.
yes, it's fermented sugarcane. No, it isn't rum. Tastes like equal parts white rum, tequila, and the moonshine we have hereabouts. Maybe it's more like rhum agricole but i can't get that here to compare..
I like to top my caipirinha with a little topo Chico lime seltzer. Makes them a little less of a sledgehammer.
I'm due to fly back to Tampa on 17 August from Idaho. I hope Fred has moved on by then but I haven't looked at the forecast models.
That hasn't stopped me from making caipirinhas here though
In reply to stanger_mussle :
I made some of those the other weekend when it wasn't raining. Holy crap were they good. Big thanks there for the introduction, man.
Tim and Tom decided to take the redeye back from Monterey to get home a day earlier. For the doubleheader Hurricane party we will also have charcuterie--needed to anyway since Tom made me this gorgeous cutting board for my b-day--CNC routed the logo, filled with resin, sanded til it'll be like eating off a baby's bottom (and who doesn't want that?). Rest of the kids contributed a glorious haul of tasty things--this is just the pantry stuff :)
