Thanks Karl! With any luck Irma will spin off into the Atlantic. We'll be thinking of you guys. Hope you get through unscathed!
Good luck. I have family and interests in Hernando Co. My aunt was hit hard by Andrew and is still down there. My cousin lost his house to Katrina(months after coming back from Iraq wounded) and relocated to KY.
I'm in Orlando. I'm on high ground, but it is an apartment. I can probably smuggle in several cars if need be. If we flood, you got bigger problems.
Worried about family in Puerto Rico- but right now, the forecast shows that the southern part of the island will be ok. San Juan and the NE will get hammered pretty hard.
My gut tells me that the island construction is more hurricane robust than most of Florida. Lots of re-enforced concrete homes all over the Caribbean.
I have friends with a newborn fresh out of the ICU in Jacksonville. I hope no one minds but I've offered to call upon the powers of GRM on their behalf if an emergency arises (right now they're not worried at all about their safety, but I am).
Alfa and MNDSM, here's wishing you and yours nothing but the best. If there's anything I can do from afar please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the sentiment. There's a lot more of us, and I'm probably the safest of the bunch. There's people on both coasts that have it worse than me. High ground amd a second floor apartment. As long as I don't sinkhole, all that's gonna happen is o lose power. I'm close enough to disney that the response will be immediate. I'm worried about our coastal friends.
I'm trying to convince my father to get the hell out of St. Pete while it's easy. He has no reason to stick around but he's refusing. He won't do it for himself, but I'm going to call him in the morning and make the case that it will be an enormous pain in the ass for any of us to get him out of there after the fact.
In reply to Woody :
Get on that E36 M3. They're mandatory evacuating the keys starting tomorrow. It's not a joke anymore.
In reply to Hungary Bill :
Thanks, also, Bill.
I think my family will be ok- the track has it hammering the opposite side. But we do have some friends just outside of San Juan, too... Ugh.
I'm in Clearwater and pretty well prepared IMO. If someone wants to stop by for the after party please let me know ahead of time so I can toss an extra burger on the grill.
