This is the second case that I'm aware of where the source of infection was the tap water. If flushing your sinuses, boil the water first.
Most cases have been from swimming in lakes in the summer, when the amoeba levels are higher.
One case that I recall was from infection acquired at a water theme park.
I've done every one of these activities.
There's stuff that will kill you everywhere.

Yeah this isn't a Florida-unique problem, for once This advice should be followed anywhere.

Someone got the same thing at the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte several years ago.

and because some people need to be told: Let it cool between boiling and flushing sinuses.
We do the sinus rinse - we use distilled water that we distill. My wife's all over that amoeba sinus thing.
I'll share this with the wife, she likes to throw down a good "I told you so" to the kids and I.
