Tornadoes don't scare me. Minnesota is kinda into those. Just found it amusing, as this is my first hurricane season.

I flew out of Tampa yesterday morning. Just some rain and not really windy at that time. Beatiful weather up here in MN. Hopefully I can get home tomorrow ahead of the remnants hit. Hope everyone made it through ok so far.
Lost power about 20 minutes ago. Storm made landfall between Carabelle and Apalachicola about the same time. Wind and rain not bad, just gusts every few minutes. Waiting for the dogs meds to kick in so he will quit pacing the floor.
Powers out in NW Gainesville. A couple of dramatic booms and a bunch of wind at the same time made it seem reasonable. I can hear big trucks in the distance so it's probably short lived.
The rain reached Hilton Head around 11:00 pm or so. Will be near us Fri. afternoon with 40+ winds. Should be ok. I do have huge trees over the car, though, and they haven't been tested in many years.
Best wishes to you Gulf Coasters.
Some thunder and lighting early. Lots of palm debris but no damage so far. Raining now. On my way to work. I was gonna convince swmbo to go to Magic kingdom so I could say I went to disney in a hurricane but hermine already got downgraded.
Hope you all are safe down there. Up here in the NE I am hoping at least some of it comes our way. We need the water. Things are crazy dry up here.

Only because you've never seen one.
I suggest you look up Moore, OK. MN doesn't know a damn thing about tornadoes compared to OK/KS.

No kidding. Anything that can flat out decimate an entire neighborhood is terrifying.
I think that a Hurricane scares me a lot more though. If I knew I was going to be hit by one, I'd pick the hurricane over the tornado. But the likelyhood of a tornado actually hitting me seems much lower, even back when I lived right in a tornado hotspot (although not as bad as KS/OK).
Don't know if it is true or not, but I heard that the highest amount of tornadoes per area is actually Florida. Which would make some sense, seeing as it is so flat.
Somehow we survived the hurricanado. If you were following along on the TV, you would've thought that the entire state of FL was in danger. Not so much. Here in the Daytona area, we had a few light rainstorms and maybe a gust of 25 mph or so. It was actually more calm than most thunderstorms down here.
As long as Jim Cantori isn't in your town---- chances are you'll be OK. It's sunny and mild here at the GRM Headquarters today. Despite what most people think, we haven't had any sort of serious weather issues since 2004. While those storms were serious--- we were due--- it had been about 20 years before that since any hurricanes hit this area.
But yeah---- Florida is full of bugs, snakes and constant threat of hurricanes. Well, according to the TV at least.
All I know about tornadoes and hurricanes is that when Twister is on TV you are not allowed to change the channel. You MUST watch it.
In Dunedin we had a lot of rain and some sting wind bands throughout the night. I lost a few small branches and my 6:30 AM surgery got cancelled (they wanted constant power in the surgical center, geez).
I'm really worried about Karl LaFollette. He is right on a canal with gulf access. He could be totally underwater. I tried him by phone but couldn't reach him. Really hope he and Marie are ok.
Update. Just got Karl on the phone. He and Marie are fine and their place on the canal is dry. Great to hear. He is taking a ton of pictures of other damage and promised to post.
Ft. Lauderdale is too far south for this storm, but radar shows a big feeder band headed our way. Wife's family in Tampa reporting scattered flooding, but Tampa always has flooding. Good wishes to all.
Charleston got about 15 minutes of some good winds and then it was done. It's been pretty boring. Definitely not worth all the irritating grumpy people yesterday and cancelled school today. I hope everyone else came through it okay.
I'm in NC.
Flash flooding and evacuation orders in effect.
My wife seems to enjoy listening to the weather alert warnings. Every 30 seconds or so I'm hearing the sirens and recorded messages on some kind of electronic device. Driving me batty- I wish she'd just turn them off.

Yeah, I drove for about 2 hrs today @ 35 mph on the Interstate. I couldn't see the car in front of me. Saw 8 different wrecks.

Lucky for me, it wasn't raining that hard. I came down I95 at 72 with no problems. Most of the traffic was running faster than I was.
2nd day without power in Tallahassee. Just went and bought a generator as the utility estimates a week before most of the city has power. I had yard debris abd a few large limbs in my yard. Some of my neighbors were not so lucky. I think every tree in one neighbors yard came down. They had to cut a path to his house, they are ok though. Most businesses are closed unless they have power generation. Publix rocks, all their stores are open and fully stocked. Sadly no ice though. Good news is we have running water and I get to grill and drink beer all weekend
