This might very well be the best book ever written:

http://www.amazon.com/Go-F-Sleep-Adam-Mansbach/dp/1617750255

I know I'm going to get a copy as soon as it comes out. M wife and I are gibbering wrecks about half of the time after we finally get the kids to sleep.

The joke gets a little tired by the end of the book, but the entire premise is fracking hysterical.

A friend of my brother knows the dude that wrote the book and my brother had the whole thing on his computer, too funny.

The slideshow has the complete book--but we ordered a hardcopy--I think it'll be worth it.

It is, however, an eerily, hideously accurate portrayal of the first 4-5 years of parenthood. I also don't think I ate a hot dinner in the first 2 years of the experience.

Yeah, the humor (and the horror) is in the detail. That thing is spot-on.

I agree. More like a crude and disgusting attempt at humor by an unfit parent. I feel sorry for his children.

I am with Margie. The book is spot on. And I am a great dad. I adore my little ones. But sometimes I just wish they'd go the berkeley to sleep.

The vast majority of fights my wife and I had in the 2 1/2 years after we adopted our first two children and EVERY fight we have had in the 4 1/2 months since we adopted our newborn has been about sleep.

My two boys are 20 months apart in age. The book is mild compared to some of the thoughts I've had.

NO!

I have two boys, ages 7 and 5. Just got back from the ballfield.

So, who's this guy's target market? Adults are going to read this book and find it worthwhile? Really? Or are new parents going to read it to their children so they can learn the F-bomb before any of the kids in their preschool class? It's despicable!

Lighten up Francis.
Says here that it is the Amazon #1 seller:
http://www.fastcompany.com/1753287/go-the-berkeley-to-sleep-number-one-amazon-piracy-adam-mansbach

Something remarkable happened today. A children's book hit the No. 1 spot on Amazon.com's best-seller list. And it did so a month before the book is even slated for release. You may have heard of the book--it's a best-seller after all. Go the berkeley to Sleep by Adam Mansbach, began its life as a joke Facebook post in June. It was a particularly trying instance of bedtime with his 2-year-old daughter, and Mansbach let off some steam in the form of a humorous status update to his friends: "Look out for my forthcoming children’s book, ‘Go the — to Sleep.' " The response from his friends was so fierce that Mansbach decided to make his joke book a real one. Go the berkeley to Sleep, which he bills as a "children's book for adults," will hit stores on June 14, published by the Brooklyn press Akashic. If it's not even due for a month...

In passing there is some truth to it. I remember some of those nights. I did manage to get through four kids without telling them to go the berkeley to sleep. Not my style though, so I don't think I'll be buying a copy.

It looks like gallows humor more than anything else.

I thought it was hilarious... from an aunt that often put a wee nephew to bed. I can still recite most Dr. Seuss books...

Nobody's going to read that book to their kids, it's rather a sympathetic piece from one tired parent to all the other tired parents out there.
