2010 model. Are Fords CVTs made of glass like nissans etc.
I know they drive questionable compared to a regular tranny but are they on their last leg at 100 k miles or will changing the fluid keep them happy?

We see very few issues with them. Actually can't ever remember looking up parts for one (and I looked up a lot of CVT parts for the previous 500/Freestyle CVT!) I'm assuming they are better behind the hybrid powertrain than the v6. Its pretty much the same trans they use in the Escape Hybids, and you see NYC cab versions of them with many, many miles.
Aren’t they using hybrid technology licensed from Toyota? If so, it’s not a traditional CVT, and is a much simpler and more durable design.

I thought this was the case as well. Should be bulletproof.
Fusion Hybrids are on my radar as good values.
Also search Lincoln MKZ hybrids. They made many of them and the price is not much if any more than the Fusion. AC seats on the Lincoln!
Also, there were Mercury Milan Hybrids. They are very overlooked since no one seems to go looking for a Milan
C-Max and Escape too.
Car in question had 114k miles loaded and appeared to be cared for but selling for $3200. It seemed cheap to me and I'm a cheapskate.
I have not seen the car and it was purchased by my nephews GF. My nephew spent the last couple weeks questioning me on what to buy but texted me today to say she bought a fusion.
That generation of Fusion Hybrid used what was more or less a Gen2 Prius design.
Its pretty much just 2 electric motors and some planetary gears. Should be super reliable. If you're curious there are really informative videos on YouTube about their inner workings and how they vary from the Toyotas.
