We've noticed those racing sim threads are long and active. Do you guys want your own subforum instead of just a couple stickied threads, or are you happy with the status quo?

If there's enough of you interested, I can make that happen and move those threads to that section.

I like the stickied threads myself. The clamor over GT6 will die down

In reply to DaveEstey:

What dave said......it would be active in only a few threads and otherwise a kind of waste of resources.

I vote for subforum. It would consolidate those threads into a nice place for us to discuss and find the threads. Stickys always get unstickied and become hard to find afterwards.

I would like a subforum. Maybe branch out a bit from Gran Turismo and Forza that are stickied and get people into the PC ones too like Live for Speed, rFactor and iRacing. I don't do iRacing (I'd like to, but don't have the regular free time to justify a monthly payment), but I do have the other ones. We could run a LFS series or an rFactor series, too, and the mods for rfactor would allow some pretty unique racing.

Also we could more easily find the results of past series. Think about it, chart your progress over time!

Gotta say that I am in favor due to the history thing.

Plus, we can have threads of stuff like "I'm bored, its Friday, wanna GT6?" and not be buried in OT

I'd like a sub forum.

Just to get an idea of the potential pool, do we have 20 or so people interested in a sim racing sub forum? And would your buddies join us here forum if they knew that they had a cool place to hang out? (I'm assuming this place is cool--still on the fence.)

I have 11 " friends" on the ps3 that are regulars here. iRacing has it's own forums.

I'd like to see a subforum for grm gaming

I have a few work friends who might come and join in the talk if we had a sub forum. It was a bit much to surf through one big thread for them.

I have a friend who plays racing games a bit and is on grm though not often. I might try to get him on here. Most of my active psn friends i got through here.

Just because iracing has its own forum doens't mean we can't discuss it here, too. I don't know how iracing works but I think LFS can have private lobbies. I dont remember rfactor, though. In fact I might have been playing a friend's Rfactor account all along, I should probably get my own if we do anything on that.

See? This forum could generate revenue for these games! everybody wins, except my grades...

If it's a general gaming forum that isn't restricted to racing, you could probably get even more traffic with people into call of duty, Grand theft auto, Madden, and so on.

I'd like it too. Heck, 75% of my posts are from the GT5 series threads lol.

I'd like to see a subforum. It would make finding that zombie thread about building a new rig easier to find once I actually finish mine.

Just thought of another benefit, we could have a master list of people's PSN accounts for friending, like the Forza one.

I agree we can discuss it here, I was just saying that I don't see people coming here to discuss it from there. I know there are a couple people from here who are on iRacing but not many. I just let my subscription lapse, like you not enough time and honestly I get more enjoyment out of our GRM league. I like racing the same people week after week rather than a group of random people. I explain it to my wife that it's like a bowling league, only I don't leave the house.

I think getting that far off theme could introduce a lot of unwanted chaff to the wheat.

Here's the thought process that lead to this: We seem to have a nice community of sim racers, so would giving you guys some dedicated space foster communication?

Creating the forum is easy. If it fails to launch and we have to kill it, though, those posts would disappear. So we just want to make sure there's interest before making the commitment.

I'm for a Racing Sim sub-forum. While there are other forums specific to (insert title here) racing game, when I started the GT5 Series, it was because I wanted to race with people who were car people, not just gamers. I've personally tried a lot of sims, so having 1 spot to check would be good for me.

There is a group of sim-endurance racers that might be looking for a home with like minded individuals... if we create a sub for sims, I'll send it their direction.

I would be in for a Sim Racing sub forum. It would definitely be easier to set up races and such and it wouldn't clog up the OT forum.

This. I think if we had a space other than the OT forum it would definitely forster more communication. We could have multiple threads for different topics, instead of putting everything in the master "GT6" thread or the GT5 series thread, which could then be reserved for actual series discussion instead of all GT5 stuff. Maybe we could share set ups or discuss tracks separately, maybe have a photo thread. Lots of fun possibilities.
