It's 9:15 here on the East Coast on Saturday night, July 2, 2016. The fireworks in my neighborhood are phenomenal. How are yours?

Annoying.

Meh, maybe. But patriotic anyway. Possibly the Famous Grouse scotch I'm sipping adds to the ambience.

Just got back from the fireworks in Halifax. Tomorrow night is Middleboro, and then Monday is the parade and fireworks over Plymouth harbor. Its good to live in America's hometown.

Town I live in decided to shoot off fireworks last Thursday night at almost 10pm. Sat night was very quiet. Oddly so.

I've done the fireworks in Plymouth many times, always awesome. Seeing them from the beach (or from a boat) in P-town, also great.

The random, neighborhood explosions without warning........make me a little twitchy. I suppose it's some mild PTSD.

Someone set off a huge bomb at 3:45 AM in my neighborhood. Either that or a car exploded.

Anyone loose a finger in your town yet? There's always someone, somewhere, molding their fingers into permanent gang signs.

In reply to Appleseed:

Every year local fire departments blow up countless watermelons to distribute the video to local television stations. It's senseless violence that's not needed, like a watermelon blowing up in 2016 is going to look any different then it has in previous years.

I just returned a runaway dog that jumped onto my deck. He was about a mile from home.

Third straight night of various neighbors setting of fireworks. The dog seems unfazed as we sit on the porch watching TV.

A neighbor child, looked to be younger than middle school, was just taken to the hospital in an ambulance with a JPP type injury. All I can honestly think is that Darwin has failed. I feel bad for him, but his parents and grandparents who were present can't get a harsh enough punishment. I suggested tof one of the responding officers that CPS be contacted for his siblings in the home.

A couple of booms and bangs tonight.

Dogs were a little more agitated than usual, but it could also be the armadillo that's been visiting the yard. (They know.)

Last night they were firing them off between 9:30-11... not exactly what I want to hear after working 12 hours and having to wake up at 5:30 in the morning.

Yeah. Y'know some of us idiots need to be at work at 6 am Tuesday. While normal people are partying and having fun, I'm trying to get some sleep.

So it's 10:30 on the Fourth. It's been pretty mild in our neighborhood. A few illegals getting off (fireworks, that is). I think Saturday night (the 2nd) was the craziest around here. Anyway, it's patriotic, and while I can empathize with with the pet owners and the people that have to get up at 5:00 am to go to work, it's only once a year to celebrate our Independence.

Surprisingly, our neighborhood was not too bad last night. We live in one of the few areas around where you can shoot off fireworks and some years it reminds me of a cross of Beirut with Iraq.

This year, the dogs and I was asleep by 11 and slept through the night and the fireworks were occasional vs constant.

Columbus, OH had it's official fireworks display on the 2nd; I watched from a few miles away in Grandview Heights.

Locally, the 3rd had more action because the neighbor two doors down had a family reunion and all had come cocked and loaded. I'm looking at you Larry... Larry and one of his kin were in a competition with another group a block away. The fight to see who could shoot the farthest and last the longest was stymied by the clock, not by a lack of enthusiasm or supplies.

The town's display went off last night on cue despite rain and was louder and bigger the Larry's stuff the night before but didn't last nearly as long. That wasn't a bad deal for all things living nearby.
