Actually, the per-capita cost of healthcare IS lower north of the border. But that's not really germane to the discussion.
Shipping cheap stuff via USPS is quite a bit different than shipping valuable stuff via courier when it comes to paperwork. FYI. I know those who don't do this for a living think it's super-easy and simple and we're all retards - but you're welcome to come work in our shipping department for a few weeks to learn otherwise.
Amen (on the shipping part).

Do not blanket ALL Canadians with the poor example of a few.
In business, 90% of your problem is 10% of your clients.
The rude 10% of Canadians do not represent ALL Canadians any more than the rude 10% of Americans represent ALL Americans.

I'd say the rude Americans are more like 90%. I'd argue that your example sucks.

The biggest problem with Canadians is that they all generalize too much.

"we're all retards"
Coming up in the next hour we will interview Keith to get to the bottom of his inflammatory remarks. We will also hear commentary from panel of prominent people in mental health, special needs, automotive parts supply, and the spokesman for the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Canadians.
Ya'all are taking Bob way too seriously and giving him too much credit.
This is something that he quite literally complains about every single day he's at work.
The rest of us just smile, nod, and absently-not-really-paying-attention say "That's nice Bobby."
If it REALLY incensed him to the point that he was actually mad about it, he would have quit his job for mental health reasons years ago. In the meantime, he's just babbling.

Sadly, my sample is 100% rude. I'd love to have 9 out of ten be polite to me. Sadly, that is just not hte case. I get better attitudes from the flat-billers that think they know everything about a B16CR500BGH and I'm an idiot.

If your sample of American purchasers is 100% rude, then perhaps your issue is with ~people~, not specifically Canadians.
Or maybe you need to sell a product that does not cater to rude people?
So Bobzilla where are your complaints coming from?
Over 20% of the population are immigrants, so the international thing might not mean much to them.

Clearly having ONLY US ADDRESSES will help, instead of no international. Have IT take away any way to put letters in the ZIP code should about crush all.
Lastly , as a Canadian, go berkeley yourself!
+1 for being more specific, some US businesses say "no international" when they do in fact ship to Canada. Say "Continental US only" and there can be no question.
I like "US addresses only", that's pretty clear.

Oh no... some of the nicest customers I have are living on the east coast and are Romanian immigrants. Hard as hell to understand them, but they are always super nice. That and the "good ol' boys" down south. They don't talk real fast, but they sure are polite.
The site is set up to not accept payment from Canadian banks and does not allow Canadian zip codes.
Twice a year my Canadian counterparts come to town for a weeklong meeting. One time, Louie from Quebec took the last cup of coffee and didnt start another pot. Jerk.

...once you ship to Alaska, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, USVI...
Unlike some ignorant businesses, I ship world wide. There's no reason not to. It's not significantly more difficult than shipping within Canada, and I am in business for a reason.
Without question, I get the greatest amount of grief from my American customers. My payment and shipping instructions are very, very clear, and very concise. There can be no misunderstanding, yet I am routinely paid in the wrong currency (most don't seem to understand that there is another currency aside from the USD). They often give me a different address than the one in their PP account, despite being told NOT to in the payment instructions, and NEVER include their phone number, despite this being term of service. The worst part, however, is the fact that they get all pissy when they find out that they won't have it the next day. I have seriously had American customers send me nasty emails complaining that they haven't received their parts yet, and I haven't even processed, or shipped the order yet.
Bob, with your talent in interpersonal communication, and obvious good nature, I am floored that this kind of issue is even possible.
So - you have a site set up that does not accept Canadian banks or Canadian addresses. That sounds pretty clear ~to~me~ that you do not ship outside of the states.
If I were at that site, I'd be frustrated that the company did not recognize Canada, but I would move on and give someone else my money.
The people who are contacting you are therefore the illiterate idiots who cannot read and will be rude about it. And every one of them (100%) cannot read and will be rude. I can see the sample you are drawing from.
"The rudest, most obnoxious people I deal with consistently are Canadians." The Canadians you are dealing with might be the rudest, most obnoxious people - but that does not mean all Canadians are rude, obnoxious people. Your logic is flawed.
And, as a Canadian, hearing your argument against Canadians, based on your particular sample, strengthens the stereotype of rude, arrogant American. I am sure not all Americans are rude and arrogant. I am sure you are even a pretty nice, polite guy who is just a bit miffed at the people you are dealing with. Having just spent nine days in the states on a holiday - all of y'all are really no different than us up here.
Isnt Nickleback from Canada?

I think you missed the part where we are not allowed to ship outside the US. When the manufacturer says "No", you listen or lose your franchise. It isn't even our choice.
So you can take your condescending attitude and your personal attack and go find some Canadians to talk to.
