Fuzzy invasion of domestic rabbits
They are descendants of a group a backyard breeder illegally let loose when she moved away two years ago.

It sounds like the breeder should be found and charged for the cleanup. Of course, easier said than done.
It seems like so many invasive species are the result of people just letting pets loose in the wild like this. Florida seems to get it worse than most other places.
After a mold winter, not as many kits died, we're over run also. Things are almost domesticated, not afraid of people or the dog.
When I was a kid, there was a massive "roundup" and slaughter of rabbits in the SE Idaho desert. Iirc it made the national news.
edit, here's a relatively recent article about it https://www.idahopress.com/news/state/mud-lake-was-scene-of-1981-jackrabbit-killing/article_f513a070-8cec-55ca-8ee2-f9a13a2e57fa.html
farmers clubbed them to death.
Sounds like a good time to break out the old fashioned burgoo recipe....
Sounds like a convenient source of meat for when the SHTF. In the meantime, anyone care for some hasenpfeffer?
Jericho Beach in Kitsilano (Vancouver, BC) is no different, domesticated bunnies everywhere that were abandoned a long time ago.
