Redbull tastes like piss in a can. I can understand people not liking coffee, it is bitter and it does take some getting used to... I cannot understand people liking redbull. yuck.

I've bought piss in a bottle.

Coyote urine, actually. It's used to encourage skunks to move out from under your porch and relocate to under your neighbor's. It's $16 per pint, which is way more than coffee or gas.

And, for the record, Red Bull is disgusting, but I appreciate all the sponsorship dollars that they've spent in motorsports.

Most coffee brewed in North America is poorly made.

1) problem- too little of coffee grounds- results in bitter coffee (and normally weak)

2) problem- due to #1, coffee is roasted too much to make it taste stronger.

If you make coffee strong, and it's over roasted- all you taste is burnt coffee.

My favorite coffee is Puerto Rican Cafe con leche. I have no idea how it's brewed, but even the stuff out of big containers in hospitals rocks. It's roasted light, brewed STRONG (read- capuccino strong) and cut with hot milk. Similar to cafe latte, but cheap and it tastes good.

Behind that- coffee in Italy, France, and Spain- all different, and all equally good in my eyes.

I'm hoping to work with my local roaster to figure out how cafe con leche is made.

USUALLY, coffee will taste bitter if it was brewed too long. And, like other products that are sold by taste, you get what you pay for. If someone gives you a cup of coffee for free, that's usually what it's worth. Would you say all chocolate candy is crap because you once ate an old piece of Halloween candy?

Fun fact. Nobody likes me before the first cup of coffee. Not many people like me after.

Maxwell House run through a Bunn commercial machine works for me. That or instant. The stronger the better.

I haven't noticed the price increase though. We buy it by the case at Sam's. It'll be another month or so before I need to go back.

Have you done double blind testing of Red Bull and piss in a can?

It was a weird night.

There were floods in Austrailia and bad weather in China that have caused wheat prices to rise. There is ethanol in our gas so corn prices have risen. Unrest in the middle east and a growing worldwide middle class so oil prices are up. Global warming could be to blame as well. These things may be true, but the real problem here is that we've sat by and allowed a private banking cartel to have complete control over our money supply and the monetary base has tripled in the past several years. Of course everything is going to cost more when it is priced in dollars since the value of a dollar is being intentiaonally destroyed. Look at the price of any of these commodities in gold and you will see that they are not really changing much - it is the value of the dollar that is dropping like a rock. The truth is that there is a decreased demand for oil and the price still has risen.

Decreased only in the USofA. Third World countries are using it like it's going out of style, which drives up the price of a barrel FOR EVERYBODY.

Ah, see, that's 'cause it is going out of style.

The US uses more oil than any other country. That may change down the road. China's use of oil is growing VERY fast, but I think we still use a LOT more.

Question? Where does all the brown stuff go? If done properly it moves all the gray matter in good ways. Weak coffee is worthless.

Coffee is one of the few areas where I don't compromise. I get mine whole bean from a roaster in town, and brew it with a French press. The difference is astounding. It's $11 per pound (it just went up in price a few weeks ago from $10), and I usually get about 20 cups from it.

There are a few variables that affect the flavor of coffee; quality of beans, blend, roasting time, duration of time between grinding and brewing, brew temperature, water quality, brew method, amount of coffee per unit volume of water...

If you're not happy with the flavor of your coffee and use an automatic coffeemaker, there are a few easy tips to get a better cup:

Clean your coffeemaker. It's surprising how many people don't do this. The basket accrues a lot of off flavors after a while. Run soapy water with white vinegar through the machine, then a few cycles of clean water to rinse out residues.

Use more grounds. I saw a label that claimed 90 8 oz cups from one pound of beans... I don't imagine those cups tasting too great. The grounds can get "over-extended" and transfer bitter flavors.

Use fresh coffee. The stuff at the grocery store has probably been sitting on a shelf for quite a while, and it was probably at a warehouse before that, a railroad car before that... If you grind beans fresh, you will taste a huge difference.

And people who drink it like water get the added benefit of a diuretic, caffiene.

Caffeine IS indeed a diuretic, but studies show that despite that fact, COFFEE as a whole is not. You could drink only coffee, and be sufficiently hydrated. It might not be good for you for other reasons of course, but coffee does in fact hydrate.

Like the absoultely true comments about Navy coffee. 10 to 20 cups a day plus 4 on 8 off schedule with ships work in between and you too can have a nuclear weapons platform operated by sleep deprived hyper irritable teenagers. Great Fun.

So true. If the Terrorists were smart they would target coffee and tobacco. Our Military would grind to a halt.

If the terrorists were really smart, they’d destroy our ability to make these:

Without them, our country would…well, you know.
