Gauging interest- Contribute to Haiti??

Was just talking to wifey about this. She is in big time. Willing to make the flights. She wants to do GOOD THINGS. Kinda cool to be married to somebody like that. Just let us know what we can do, we will be there.

OK, pieces are starting to come together. Not a complete picture yet.

• Planes are set to ferry stuff through Nassau
• Trustworthy distribution on the ground in Haiti
• Secure storage hangers in both Ft Lauderdale and Nassau
• Drop off points in Albany, GA

Looks like I'll have the trucking arranged tomorrow. Not much to tell until I get to that point.

HOWEVER- if anyone can arrange an ATL dropoff point, or anywhere south of there to Ft Lauderdale, I think I can arrange the trucking. If no one else can take on this part, I can't.

I expect to be in a plane over Haiti in a few days.

I would like to help, not sure how at this time, would love to a part of the crew if needed. Location is a problem though

You really need to get out more.

When I lived there before, I knew people who made less than $200 per year, on which they supported their families. Are you suggesting they help us rebuild our skyscrapers? The absurdity in that concept is immeasurable.

I am available for whatever can be done in the Gainesville area.

In general our country has a government with it's E36 M3 together and we've got the resources to handle natural disasters on our own. We really don't need anyone's help.

We got a lot of outside help at the twin towers, not from Haiti because they don't have much to offer but many european, asian and south american groups sent people and supplies. We are fortunate enough in this country that we can be on the giving end more than the reciving end and it is only right that we do what we can.

I can't speak for others, but the reason I do so is summed up nicely by the Golden Rule (common to many faiths) and Matt 25:40 (particular to my faith), which says "... the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

I don't think digdug speaks for many of us here. For the general population, a litle more so. Papers here are full of nasty comments. Sad.

Have you been to china? $200 a year is a luxury for them, they wished they had that amount of money, and they don't bother us when they have a problem.

I've got a better one for you, you can build makeshift rafts and float the goods to them, then they can raft back to the US, that would be great! ---more sarcasm.

Yeah, I'm not religious. But you could most likely figure that out on your own. I'm great to my fellow americans, I volunteer at 3 soup kitchens, the boy scouts, and help with the NRA shoots at my local range. But if you decide that my country needs to support you and your country and whatever problem they are having, thats when I have a problem.

We are talking about a situation where some people are willing to give whatever they can to help fellow human beings. We are not talking politics or nationalism, merely helping people that desperatly need help. NRA is not about to help. Good hearted folks that understand that others are in dire need will help. You don't agree, you don't feel the same way, fine. Please, just just get out of the way, we will do what feels right for us. I will not try to change your mind, but I will feel much better about myself after I do what I can to help. I have lived a long and fairly priviledged life here and am quite willing to put myself in harms way to do a Good Thing.

I agree with cwh. Just stop reading this and stop posting. Be happy what you do, and let others do what they want. No point in arguing about it. You will just have to deal with the fact that a majority of your fellow Americans do not feel the same as you do.

Morbid- I can provide a drop point, but believe that svrex already has one down here. One of my suppliers has made a bit of his warehouse available if needed. Close to FLL, not so close to Fort Lauderdale Executive airport. I'm sure this will be clarified tomorrow. Glad to see you on board. All possible help is needed. Nobody is doing this for glory or attaboys, just what has to be.
