I am developing more contacts and trying to create some bridges. Abel (prior post http://www.apoxeeministries.org) just returned from Haiti and tells us it is far, far worse than than the news is reporting. not a surprise, but definitely a reality check. He and his organization are trying to get as many children out as possible, at least on a temporary basis. There are other groups also doing this. just yesterday a local group was able to get 100 kids out on an old cargo plane and came in local to me at Ft. Pierce. I have volunteered to take a few of these kids in when needed. at the moment i am trying to get Abel linked up with the group in Ft. pierce, and will have a full blown fund drive going by the end of the weekend to pay for transportation costs for retrieving as many children as possible. emergency visas are being issued and luckily, there are steps being taken to limit red tape for refugee children.

Another friends church , also in ft pierce has a three acre lot where supply trucks can over night , and they are also collecting supplies for the cargo plane to ferry over (supplies in , children out).

I can put you in contact with any of these groups if you think it will help...

I agree with cwh. Just stop reading this and stop posting. Be happy what you do, and let others do what they want. No point in arguing about it. You will just have to deal with the fact that a majority of your fellow Americans do not feel the same as you do. E-

And they're are even more americans that feel the same way as I do. As for posting and reading this forum, if you didn't want comments from people why did you post here?

Andrew- Feel free to post however you feel. There are a lot of people out there that completely agree with you. When we post on an open forum like this, all responses are welcome. If you disagree with the main theme of the topic, so be it. This is not a place where you will be flamed. However, please respect that those who have different feelings, whose life experiences have led them to a more gentle mindset, will do what they want to do- help our fellow human that needs help that we can provide. Respect, man

We get it, you are not happy. Your speech has not been trampeled on. Do you have anything else to add? The above post seems to say no, so be happy, don't bother reading about people who want to help a country where the average annual income is less than a day of income of many Americans. You'll have to forgive me for thinking that they had zero resources to help any disater for us, so this relationship is decidedly one sided.

Besides, if your were true to yourself, charity does not require a two way street. You do it for the sake of charity, not for the "glory" or expectations of recipication.

Like I said, YOU would be better off not reading more here. It would make YOU less mad that your fellow Americans are wasting their effort to help the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere who just encountered a natural disaster that people in the country really can't fathom in terms of death and distruction.

But, hey, if you are looking for things to be mad at your fellow Americans, read and post away....

Eric- Don't flame him, he unfortunately represents what I consider a majority of opinion in my area, at least. So be it. We will do what we consider to be important. With or without the support of them. I don't care. I am 65 years old. I am placing my LIFE in jeopardy to do this, because, to me, it's important and I can help. Enough said. Don't need anybody's agreement or support. I do what I think I need to do. And, it appears that I have a good bit of support here. There are good hearted people here.
