Hey all, I was searching for a nice gift for my nephews (they are turning 4 and 3 soon) for Christmas and saw this:

A car engine toy. What do you guys think? It's a bit pricy but if you guys approve of this toy I am willing to pay the price for it.
Let me know what you guys think.
:)
Thankss!!
Playschool has a car that teaches you how to work on it, complete with tools. It has audio that prompts the kiddos what to do. My three year old loves it.
There are also a series of vehicles designed to be taken apart by kids in that age group, comes with an impact driver with socket, phillips and flat head, my son also loves that but I forget the brand.
I think we have a canoe, but not a bad one for this board.

She has a few real posts dating back to last year... not a canoe.

It is neat, but I am not 3.
My experience with 3 and 4 year olds is that the thrill of the colorful battery operated toys that cost parents a day's pay wears off long before the Christmas wrapping paper is picked up off the floor.
But the box it came in remains thrilling and exciting for months!

Yeah totally not a canoe guys, a legitimate question.
and Thanks for remembering me :) I'll try to be on here more often now.
But seriously, what do you guys think of this toy?
My husband's family a big car lover and the little boys are growing to love cars too.
If you guys have any opinions about this toy or know better toys than this one, please let me know!
In reply to AsianFemaleDriver:
I think that is an awesome toy. I would have wanted one as a kid. I would have taught me more than taking apart things that you are not supposed to take apart like a VCR.

Wow, I wish my nephew was still little, so we could play with that together!
I got him one of these one year:

He, his dad and I spent several days over Christmas working on it.
cheaper alternative: give the kid a thrown out 5hp Briggs and a $20 set of starter tools from Sears. maybe also throw in a roll of shop towels and a tube of Gojo with pumice..
and make sure he does not take it apart on his bed...

Wow, I had that visible rotary kit back when it was still made by Entex. Cool stuff.
I was eyeing that rotary kit myself.
I dislike the "he" based description. My nieces only get car stuff from me for gifts. They would like this.

That's what got me started, my dad built a Briggs on our patio while I watched. The last time I talked to him he still remembered how I was sitting there with my eyes bugged out as he took it apart and put it back together.
OP, sorry to suggest canoe. I R stoopid sometimes.
Unrelated, yet related: if you watch the original 'Gone in 60 Seconds', they crash through a Mazda dealership parking lot and in the showroom is one of the big rotor models they used as promo stuff. It's visible at 3:13:
