I keep seeing the notices online: This favorite album was released 41 years ago today, and this other landmark piece of vinyl came out 43 years ago yesterday.

What was once new has become classic.

NOFX is on its last tour ever.

I saw the Circle Jerks the other night, and front man Keith Morris is 68. Killer performance that seemed to leave nothing in reserve–openers TSOL and Negative Approach delivered similar performances–but the passage of time is unrelenting.

Lots of good new bands out there, but only a handful can be among the firsts.

Go see some live music, and here’s a shot from the wings.

One of my friends was the drummer in a Punk band called "Shock Nagasaki". Apparently they got in rotation on MTV in the early 90's and he ended up touring Europe with them, fascinating stories. I wish they would play with Bryan again, I would be in for that.

And just in that shot you have a lot of punk rock history.

Keith Morris (vocals) also fronted Black Flag, Off! and Flag.

Greg Hetson (guitar) played in Bad Religion for years.

Zander Schloss (bass) played Kevin the nerd in Repo Man.

Joey Castillo (drums) played with Danzig, Queens of the Stone Age and a bunch more.

2 years ago, saw Circle Jerks with Negative Approach (7 Seconds was also on the bill but didn't play due to covid).

Maybe going to Cleveland on 10/21 to see Bad Religion with my 18YO daughter.

I'm really enjoying the new Off! album from earlier this year.

There's a lot of cool things happening in the punk/hardcore scene these days. Lots of great (imo) new bands carrying the torch. I always tell myself that I need to go to more shows. Maybe one of these days I'll actually take my own advice lol

Last punk show I saw was the Forgotten Rebels in a bar in Toronto, I'm thinking 1978.  I tried. Wasn't my thing

I heard NOFX in Orlando was good, too. We skipped it (not a fan of that venue), and I decided to do Circle Jerks and TSOL instead since I had never seen either band. I’ve seen Flag but still need to see OFF!

Guttermouth just played Will’s Pub in Orlando. Cool venue.

I went to Punk in Drublic the one time it was in Portland and had a blast. Saw NOFX, Bad Religion, MXPX, and Anti-Flag.

I still get angry when I think about the time 20 years ago I was at a hotel across the street from a tiny bar that guttermouth played at, and found out about it the next day.

I keep an eye out for the classic punk bands to come through town. Nothing has beaten seeing the Dead Kennedys back in about 1984 or 85 at the Jockey Club in Covington, KY. Four of us made the drive from Toledo to see their only midwest show that year. It might have been their last in the area before they split up in '86.

If you are referring to the UK based Subhumans then, yes. Still around, still touring a lot and better than ever live. Like, seriously good.

Excited to see them again Nov 3rd.

With age Dick's rage has become focused and concise. He comes across as a pissed off college professor. If you get the chance definitely go see them

It looks like they are moving East as the year goes on. Maybe they'll make it to Florida!

Pics related, dug this out of my vinyl collection. Still have it from 1983.

edit: looks like they are heading to the UK into next year and I missed them at a small venue in my town last June, fark!

ya know, I don't think I've ever been to a big punk show.  The closest I ever came was having shore leave in San Diego when Bad Religion was playing (but none of my lame friends wanted to go).

But maaaaaaaan, back in the day (about 1999)...  Me, my brother, and my cousin used to roll 3-deep in my $250 1981 Ford Courier and pay $5 each at the door to the Auburn Annex, late saturday night.  Three bands and a pack of cigarettes later, our weekend would just be getting started.

I miss those days sometimes (Mrs. Hungary was just jamming out to some Bouncing Souls last Saturday over our morning cup of coffee cheeky )

I saw Unwritten Law, Mercy Music, and Authority Zero last november. That's the fourth time i've seen unwritten law, and the fourth time i've not paid to see THEM- as they've always just happened to be on a bill for another band I've been after (sum 41 on their first ever tour, pennywise twice, and now authority zero was opening for them). Saw them at the Conduit in Orlando- proper dive venue owned by Wills pub. Definitely would go again.

Speaking of older bands and go see a punk show.  Next weekend in Gainesville Against All Authority,  Mustard Plug, and The Pie Tasters are playing a show.  I absolutely hate driving to Gainesville (even going to the firm doesn't make it worth while) but I am going to this.

And how about some punk bands you can still see without a time machine?

One to keep an eye on: Rough Francis. (Their dad was part of a little punk band called Death.)

And Daikaiju, one of the most messed-up shows I have ever seen–and I’ve seen GWAR. The sound is surf, but the intensity is punk AF.
