WOW! That is the most high tech news story I have EVER seen. I wish us southerners were this far advanced! Of course, down here it would have been a story about a bear shooting and the proper way to cook bear.
Good grief....was that ~really~ put on the air?!?!
The guy below is in my yard on a pretty regular basis (here in nw NJ). His Mom is a regular too and she's 50% bigger.
If we did "black bear sightings" in our local news, we'd never have time to hear about Michael Jackson.
I worked for Channel 4 down here in South Jersey, an NBC affiliate who's budget would not allow them to replace a ford windstar van with anything less than 200,000 miles. (I had to tie the pop out windows shut in the back after the latches broke) but not they would do something that cheesy
From what I hear the guy that did the story is known as the "wacky" reporter that that affiliate. Maybe one of our Clevelanders can give us more background.

That's not a real bear, I've seen them on TV and they are much flatter.

You got ~that~ right~!
"That's not a real bear, I've seen them on TV and they are much flatter."
LOL
What else can Fox do to solidify it's reputation for cheesy, if it bleeds it leads journalism? We used to have Rick Sanchez at Miami channel 7, Fox. I would watch just to see how over the top he would go. They kicked him up to National News. Argghh.
No that is not some wacky thing they did. That is how they do things in Cleveland. That right there is considered a legit New report here. That's just Cleveland.
Thank god I am leaving this state.

Thanks Wally, I always wanted a coffee colored keyboard.
Be careful if they come at lunch time.

New Jersey Man Injured in Fight with Bear Over Sandwich VERNON, NJ (AP) -- A northwestern New Jersey man says he was mugged in his driveway by a sandwich-craving bear. Henry Rouwendal says he was packing his car last Friday when he was hit from behind and knocked to the ground. He says the culprit was a black bear who took his Italian sandwich. Rouwendal says he kicked the bear in the snout and throat. He says the bruin made off with the bread, salami and other meats but left behind the lettuce, onions and tomatoes. Vernon Township police say it's the first time a bear has attacked a person in the rural community in more than 25 years. The state Environmental Protection Department so far has classified it as an ``incident'' and not an attack. Copyright 2009 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. Is it any surprise a man in northern Jersey was carring a Salami sandwich? He was probably off to his job in the waste removal business.
That's nothing. Here is our weather report, completely normal presentation

Judging by the forecasts on the bluescreen behind him (sunny and 80 every single day), there's not a lot else for him to do.

That's pretty true, but there are lots of nearby towns to there where it's been a problem. Last month, one of our Sussex County bears moved aggressivley towards a fellow who was the local mayor, so he called the cops and they shot it. Maybe the bear voted for the other guy.
Note: I was under my car yesterday when I heard my neighbors shouting. I got up and saw the same bear (above) walking through my yard about 20 feet away from me. Basically, they're like large annoying groundhogs and they shy away from people. But you wouldn't want to corner one either.
