"Did you spend your youth dream about someday owning a Nissan or Mitsubishi?"

I kinda did tho...

I did but they were called "Datsun's" then.  My brother actually bought one.

Beat me to it. When I was in my late teens I lusted after a 3kgt vr4 but a Porsche was never even on my radar.

I was roughly 8 years old when my dad bought a pair of 280ZXs, one of them a t-top turbo car. At the time I was convinced they were basically Ferraris. I now know better but I still want one. Hell I'd settle for getting the one he still has on the road and driving it once or twice.

Both of those plus Sentra SE-R, 240SX, and R-3x Skylines. I grew up aspiring to own a collection of 90's Japanese bubble cars.

I can't ever remember lusting after a 911 until probably 3-5 years ago nor can I identify the 911 in that ad except to say it isn't a 996 or later model.

It's a 964---- the last "affordable" air cooled 911

Used to be affordable. SCs appear to be generally cheaper than good 964s these days, at least out here.

Page 2 and nobody called “dibs” on the Porsche.  Well I will.  Dibs!!!

You guys can fight over the sister with bad decisions, sounds like drama to me.

Chevette HSR. A Porker is just a mass produced turd stacked four high in a Swiss junkyard to me ultimately. The 959 was the only one that caught my attention when I was young.devil

John is the Prince of Procrastination!  In his defense I will say his sister is a light weight Cadette, knowing the car was to be picked up, she went to Toronto for "a Yoga thing" and two cars were parked in front of the garage door.  House is in/near Paramus, NJ which I never heard of until a SNL skit pointed it out.

Anywho, things went well.  Keys were found, cars were moved and the 911SC calipers were not locked up and the tires held air!  Coupla Jane Fondas with a come along and it was on.  Not a  bad looking car, it's a 1982 with 81,000 miles.

It's back at John's, about three miles from me, not inside but under an eve next to a building.  Covered and on a tarp.  Sister has a 25 year old kid who isn't sure if he wants it, paperwork has gone through probate and it's pretty much forgotten.  If lhe 25 year old doesn't want it, John is willing to take my 914 + in exchange.  We'll see.

Thoughts, suggestions et al on how to revive a car that's been sitting for 15 years are greatly apreciated.

The good part is you'd have to do something REALLY stupid (like air-ride) to lose money on it.

Fresh fuel filter, replace all rubber fuel lines, change oil, turn engine by hand while priming oil pump.  That's enough to start the engine.

Fresh brake fluid, new tires.  That's enough to drive it.

That's a sweet car.

I'd add at least checking the brake calipers to AngryCorvair's list. The ones on my 88 liked to partially seize every time it was laid up for winter.

Replace the soft lines in the braking system before you drive it.

If'n that speedometer is original to the car, then it is a late '82.

That's a really nice car, in spite of the yellow piping on the seats!
