Hey all, a pretty decent deal at harbor freight right now...

Im not sure about the rules for posting something like this, so if it needs deleted, let me know and I'll remove the post...
I've seen those, but is that what we really want for our cars? Don't they need to have an extra terminal for the rest of the electrical system or something? I'm kinda starting to think about electrical systems for the Locost now.
well you should have a battery cut off on the exterior of the car, most of the racing org's require them now on cars. I believe that both SCCA and NASA do anyway. Someone correct me on this?

Also, 20 oz (?) gravity feed sprayers are $11.99; at which point, why even bother cleaning the damned thing when you're done? Throw in garbage, unwrap another $11.99 sprayer.
I've had those cut off switches fail time & time again on a race car (New ones no less). I might use them on a kids toy but not anything I needed to depend on.
Also, if you do have them, never use them to kill a running car. When you shut them off with the load on it arcs & causes a carbon buildup on the terminals. High contact resistance results & the car wont run / start.

I paid 14.99 for a gravity feed sprayer, and Its got a lifetime replacement warranty regardless of what goes wrong. If it cloggs, just hit it with my painting hammer, and get another one. I still can't leave it uncleaned-OCD 'n all. Harbor freight rules!

Yeah, no E36 M3. The quart of thinner it takes to clean one is like $5.
i replaced my hf switch with a usa made summit racing one, it used to need whacked to get it to make contact

Painting hammer? You have to explain that one.

Painting hammer? That's just another clogged HF gun, of course.
I don't know about SCCA, but I'm pretty sure that switch won't pass NHRA requriements. I think its supposed to be all metal, and can't have a removable handle.
Right now this is my favorite tool at HF

Pretty handy thing for the driveway aligner. I made a fancy longacre style jig to hold it against the wheel but for simple camber setting it is just as accurate to just hold it up against the face of the lug nut.
Note the over four degrees negative camber was BEFORE the alignment. Got it down to 1.8 degrees static.

Thanks for that. I have been looking for a digital angle guage to make my own set up. Looks like I will stop by on my way home one day this week.

And I think I just got a 20% off coupon too.
I've got one of those digital angle guages. Very cool. I have a real camber guage too.
HF has a sale on portable air tanks right now at the stores. $20, and use the coupon from GRM for 20% off of that.
I snagged one of those digital angle gauges as well, it helped a lot with the last roll cage build. Haven't had a chance to do an alignment with it yet.
The battery cutoff works just fine but as noted it does not kill the alternator, meaning the engine will continue to run when the switch is turned off. Thus it's not legal (AFAIK) in any race series.
