three times.
Went in for surgery this morning at 5:00am (not my favorite time to be awake but the traffic was fantastically non-existant on the way to the hospital. The doc took the bottom piece of my leg bone, rotated it 90° back into proper orientation and with a plate and three screws made my foot hurt a whole lot more than it did yesterday.
He said it was a very clean break, not a lot of shards in there to dig out and it matched up nicely. Looks like it's going to be a few months before I'm doing the hokey-pokey though.

It sounds like a long time, but I'm not totally convinced that's what it's all about, anyhow.

Ouch! How did you break it?
Hope you have a speedy recovery!
I was in a car accident. I am pretty sure I broke it on the brake pedal when my foot slid off during the impact.

You are one of our special people, being a girly girl and all, so we ALL want to see you doing the hokey pokey as soon as possible. But, tell us about the accident.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone.
Details are in my last post in the Spirit R/T Thread
Sorry about the car. That sucks. I'm glad to hear your body work went well anyway - because without a car... you are going to have to walk.
Seriously. Glad you are on the mend.

This is why I'm always sure to have several coctails before I drive.

Oh, wow. Sorry to hear about the leg and the car both. Best wishes for a quick recovery! We gotta get you back on that chopper bicycle.
Ya never know... you could get screwed 4 times today.

Hope you are back up and walking soon. Make sure you do whatever physical therapy they set up for you. Lucky you only got 3 screws, mine required a few more.

You are young. You are strong. You have a good spirit. (Not counting the busted one.) You will survive and be better. And have great stories to tell to the short people. God Bless you and hope you heal quickly. Jane says to add her good thoughts, too.
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the kind thoughts.
Dang Hal, that looks awful. Was that from a car accident too or were you just kicking ass and taking names?
We went to get my personal belongings out of the Spirit on Wednesday, it was really hard to see her again. The airbag had deployed in the impact, but I still ended up with a bruised and sore right breast. I didn't realize it at the time but apparently I broke the steering column with my tit. Gave myself a very purple nurple. Makes the crutches almost unbearable as the bruising goes up into my armpit, so I got some new wheels off craigslist - a used wheelchair for $20! It just barely fits through the doors in my house, but it let's me move around with less screaming.

Jane says that ice is going to be your friend for a while. She broke her leg in a fall at home a few years ago and had to use a wheelchair for six months. Boy, was that an education! People DO NOT get out of the way. I swore that I needed a broomstick with a sharp nail in the end to move the idiots. Went to an art show in Coconut Grove, the handicapped restrooms (Porta johns) were 50 yards across a soft sand lot. I had to carry her so she could use them. Dear God, I hope you do NOT have that problem!!! Your Chuck sounds like a real man, he would do what he has to do, but hopefully nothing like that.
There's a lot of that going around. I fortunately was in a position to throw myself down a rocky defile so that I didn't break mine, in the same place, but I banged up the rest of my body doing it.
They keep telling me I'd have been better off breaking it, but I don't see that. If I'd have broken it I'd have still had all the same tears, stretches and strain AND I would have had a broken bone on top of it all.
How often do you hokey pokey?
OUCH!!
Sorry to hear about the ankle and the car.
The wife had a similar surgery several years ago. No wreck, but she's got $10K in titanium hardware in one ankle.
Get better soon.
Posting in a drug induced haze should make for some interesting reading.
