Once upon a time, one could fly through the Grand Canyon and take in the sights. These guys did it with style:

That was GREAT! Glad they don't do that anymore, says one side of me, the other is screaming for a ride today!
I'm a retired geologist, did my graduate school in Flagstaff '68 - '70, then went to work at the US Geological Survey office in Flagstaff, A couple of years before I went to work, several of the USGS staff in our office recreated John Wesley Powell's initial trip down the canyon in wooden dories. While they were down there, a couple of pilots from Nellis AFB in Las Vegas "ran the canyon" in F-100s IIRC. The guys' hearing never did fully return to normal, and they had serious problems for a few weeks.
If you're familiar with the canyon, these guys were right on the deck, inside the inner gorge of the canyon, which had to be like Luke Skywalker flying into the Death Star.
