Since you guys know everything... laugh

My day job has tasked me to find a better microphone solution for when we do teleconferencing presentations. We've been doing weekly presentations in a large group setting, using Zoom meetings run through a PC with an external webcam and a Huddlepod Air combo speaker/mic. While the Huddlepod works ok in a small room setting, it can be problematic during meetings in large spaces. Our CEO tasked me with finding something that works better, like a lapel mic of some sort, and wants a simple system that can support at least two mics at the same time.

I'm sort of versed in this kind of thing, being a musician that used to gig on the regular. I'm used to seeing wireless systems for instruments and mics, but they run through a base station, then into a mixer, and then output to speakers. I need something that cuts out the middleman and hooks right up to a PC via USB and will work with teleconferencing software.

Is this even a thing? And if so, what can anyone recommend that works? I'm looking for something simple and easy to use.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t know anything about this, but I can’t resist the opportunity to make a Telefunken U47 reference.

I installed a Pyle system that was similar to this one in a district conference room.

I ran it into a small amp and out to speakers.  Since the base unit is not an amp, I'm not sure why you couldn't take the output and adapt to your computer mic in.

For $120, it might solve your problem.  I have never seen a USB wireless mic.

Edit - Went back and reread your post.  This will get you to USB instead of mic in.

We just got some Meeting Owl's.  They're pretty rad for conference rooms

The laptop I use for teleconferencing has a dedicated mic-in port. I can, in theory, just run a wireless system with a line-out direct into the laptop with a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter, right?

Can you use a phone for the voice instead and have the computer just do the screen sharing? Our boardroom has a long table and we have something very similar to this: (Amazon link). It has little wireless mic pods that you pull out and spread around the table then put back in the base to charge when you are done.

No, not only does the office we're in lack any CAT6 ports for VOIP phones (everything is wireless here), this is more for a live presentation that involves standing in front of a live crowd and on camera in our main workspace. A handheld mic or a lapel mic is what the CEO wants so he can walk around with it while presenting.

One of the systems I was looking at was something like this:

I'd just get a standard 1/4" cable to run out of the "Mix Output" jack, convert it to 3.5mm, and right into the PC's mic port. In my head, that works, but I'm not 100% sure it's the right way to do it.

Your last post is essentially what I was suggesting.  The only issue I can see is if the base controller boosts the output to the point your mic in can't handle the signal.

You'll need to log in to post.
