The Towers, Narragansett, RI:

In 1900 a fire destroyed the casino, surrounding hotels, and the roof of the towers. The towers has been restored to its former glory. It's a beautiful structure and Ocean Road goes right under it. If you're ever in RI, it's worth a look.

The old days, 1890's. Nice place to have an adult beverage on a hot summer afternoon (maybe a Narragansett lager beer ... 5% ABV, 12 IBU's), pre-A/C, while enjoying the refreshing ocean breeze:

The Huger artesian well in the Francis Marion NF. It's been flowing for a long time. I shot this one on the way home this afternoon.

That's a great shot.

It reminds me that I have to fix the bathtub faucet.

Falls Village, CT, Thursday evening. Tom Cotter leading the race car and sports car parade with his Cunningham from Lime Rock into the village for the street festival. Yeah, it's got a Hemi. There were around 120 cars. This is part of Lime Rock's Vintage Festival this weekend.

After they were all parked:

Mr. Lime Rock, Skip Barber, enjoying the street festival:

Seems like whenever we travel, wherever we go,  Annie and I always find a neat bar with a lot of character (and characters) wink

Saturday qualifying races at Lime Rock. Nial McCabe used to post over on the Classic Motorsports forum as "Aeronca." He normally races a Spridget. This is the new race car that he built. It's probably the only Austin A35 racing in the U.S. It is really, really cool! Nial, great job! (Tim, if you see this post, it's worth a feature in Classic Motorsport. It's a great story).

He's in the red driver's suit. I think this is the second time he has raced this car.

Tom Cotter won the People's Choice award:

Wayne Carini won something with his ex-Dave Garroway Jag SS100, which raced at LRP in the fifties. Beautiful car, amazing restoration:

I missed going up there.  My grandparents had a summer cottage in Falls Village when I was a kid and whenever we were there and heard racecars my grandfather would bring me down for a bit.  When I was about 10 my grandmother almost had a stroke when she found out the race driver Paul Newman I got to talk to was the same guy as the the actor.

I've owned this since the 70s. I finally registered it when found a mount that would work and bought a 45 pound thrust trolling motor.  This is the first time out with the motor.

After this, I bought a johnboat trailer which came with a 2.5 horse Mercury outboard.

Right about that time I started getting active on this forum, and soon bought my first Miata. Canoe hasn't been out since.

Be a helluva lot to say.  One of the Army Ammo Plants still up and running.  Incredibly interesting place to wander around in.

Sidenote: its amazing how much of our military might comes from the (highly unionized) labor of old men and women that just sit at their station and gab about their kids and grandkids while working at their own little station in the explosives factory.
