Just heard this on the radio. A guy built a toaster from scratch- like, really from scratch. Mined the copper, smelted the iron- you get the idea. Neat.

I used to paint flame jobs and scallops on them. If Etsy had existed then, I might even have sold a few

I think a couple of friends still have 'em.

In any case, not nearly as cool as building one from scratch. I'm not lost for project ideas to the extent that I would consider doing that, ever, but I bet it really was interesting to learn the whole process...
