A dash cam in Taiwan catches the beginning and end of a landslide prompted by torrential rains. Hint: the beginning is caught in the top center of the screen just after the video starts.

Wow. I bet the dude in the white car was slow getting out because he'd E36 M3 his pants and was stuck to the seat.
HE GETS OUT? HE REALLY GOT OUT!!!
I'd have had that thing stuck into reverse so fast and I'd not gotten out till I was far down the road!
Also I don't understand these dash cams. They just record their daily, mostly, boring commutes? What do they do go home and show their wives their great adventures or is this a way the wives can be sure they don't have a mistress on the side.

Some insurance companies mandate them in areas that have a lot of brake check/hit-the-pedestrian scams

I think there are far fewer boring commutes in Russia and China than you think. Those people drive like idiots.

As calteg mentioned, great protection in areas where insurance fraud is rampant.
I wonder if that's the same boulder you can see tumbling from the very top of the mountain near the beginning of the video.

I think the white care was hit and shoved across the road by the land slide before the boulder came into view. It may have hit the guard rail with a resulting air bag deployment. It appears to be a newer car where it may have automatically shut off and turned on the 4-ways.
This was posted in the gif thread a few days ago. My initial thought was, "I think some poo just came out..."

The dash cam is always on and records a few minutes in loop. So if you are in a crash, you simply press a button to keep the last few minutes that were recorded before they get erased.
I'm seriously thinking of getting a dash cam. It makes so many things easier (insurance claim, fighting a ticket, etc...)

Yes. And how LUCKY he was to get slammed by the preemptive slide of muddy water.

I have seen a boulder strike a vehicle. The one I saw rolled down a cliff and landed on a semi several hundred feet ahead of me on the surekill expressway.. snapped the flatbed trailer right in half before rolling across the road and down another decline towards the River
