Upcoming Military Robot Could Feed on Dead Bodies
It could be a combination of 19th-century mechanics, 21st-century technology — and a 20th-century horror movie.
A Maryland company under contract to the Pentagon is working on a steam-powered robot that would fuel itself by gobbling up whatever organic material it can find — grass, wood, old furniture, even dead bodies
Where do you shoot fleesh eating robots to guarentee a kill?
If only they could make a robot that runs of sensationalism!

Seriously guys, lets get this one back on topic..
Fighting Zombie Robots?
Um.. You dont beat them... You keep them fed, and friendly.
It only eats dead things, so all you have to do is just stay alive and hope it doesn't acquire a taste for live flesh.

Bad spot for metal slivers.
Shoot him in the wheels or tracks, no move = no eating.
Doesn't the Geneva Convention require proper burial of fallen soldiers? I would think in theory this would be a little against that agreement. This is some sort of Dick Cheney pet project.

Where is Sarah Conner when you need her?
We were talking about this at work the other day. Combine this with when Google's Chrome OS become sentient and the human race is done for.
So, what stops them from killing, if feeding on dead bodies is the only way to sustain their own existence?

Big dog needs a menacing mouth to eat those yum dead things. ![](http://www.bostondynamics.com/img/BigDog_GuadalcanalMuddyClimb.png)
Pretty soon we'll be taken over by the plague of zombie robots. But don't worry, we can just set them free in Antarctica. Then we'll all be safe, as long as they can't swim.............

I'm going for the Road Warrior scenario. The robots can feed on my cold dead flesh when they can catch it!

Well hopefully they would have the "Laws" in place though I don't see that happening in this situation...
- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
I second the Mad Max theory though with a touch of Terminator thrown in.
Which would you rather have when faced by such a thing? Shotgun with 00 buck shot (or slugs) or something like an MP5?

Hmmm, I am gonna guess if its military, then its armoured and niether will do much damage.
The good thing is all that armour slows it down, so I'd go for the shotgun becuase the ammos lighter, and all I have to do is shoot you in the leg and out run ya.

it's like that saying about camping, when a bear is chasing you, you don't have to outrun the bear, you just have to run faster than the slowest member of your group.
but then again, would a flesh eating robot fill up on one human? or would it hunt down humans constantly, never fulfilling its robotic, mechanized lust for flesh?
