Interesting night:
SBC: I got the hell away from you guys as fast as I could (sounds like it was mayhem back there) and immediately went into an 8/10 ths or so pacing. I did not want to push too hard and make a mistake. I could see F40 coming up behind me and was going to wait for the inevitable dual before I started pushing. He made his mistake fairly early so I just cruised on, turning pretty consistent 1:51 laps. BTW my fast lap in practice was a 1:49.1, I am pretty sure I could have broken 1:49 with more practice, but even the 49.1 involved a bit of scraping off the walls, way to risky for race laps.
It seemed like every time I went past the pits there were 5 cars in there!! A party I guess I wasn't invited to...
I did catch the Derve car as a lap car. He was going along pretty good, I was barely catching him. At one point his did some sort of squiggly slide and I passed him, he was doing very good in general though.
MX5: Stupid, stupid, stupid, pretty much sums that one up. I started following F40, but as with last weeks practice, he was just a bit faster through the corners and I was not close enough on the straight to draft... race was pretty much done at that point one lap in.
Sooo... 14 laps in or so, I am getting bored and I am catching up with Brad. He is ghosted, so no harm can really be done, I can follow him as close as I want, and I wanted to do a little dueling. I passed him then I purposely slowed a bit on the straight so we could do some draft racing. He passed me and I pulled up behind him. As we passed the start/finsh, he zoomed from in front of me, to behind me (glitch), going through me... scared the crap out of me!
Then, as we approach the first turn (he was back in front of me at this point), we take that first bend to the tunnel. Brad hits the brakes. Both F40 (I was following him) and I do not brake until we are IN the tunnel so for some reason (remember he was ghosted so I can't hit him) this freaks me out (probably has something to do with the "pass through" on the straight) and I slam on the brakes unnecessarily and end up in the wall. Messed the car up bad and after a pit I ended up loosing 3 or 4 places (my little gift to you).
Anyway, NO fault of Brads, just me being stupid. An interesting driving tip for Brad though, you might try braking later in that corner. You may not get as slow as you want, but if you are not you can give a little turn before you are totally off the brakes and drift into the corner to slow you down (if you car is setup to do that).
P.S. - has anyone tried Indy yet? It's the oval right? I did a few laps in the Europe... ohh boy! I don't know about the rest of you, but the prospect of drifting around banked turns at 120mph is going to make this one tough! The low profile of the Europa might make the straights fast, but I think I am going to be slow in the corners. MX5 should be VERY entertaining though... Draft o' Rama!!!

yeah i'm up for some fun practice laps if anyones interested, the MX5 will be fun but the SBC will be a disaster lol

In the SBC race when you passed me I noticed that I was ghosted for some reason. So after following you for a few turns and staying ghosted I drove into you for a bit. My car fits inside a Europa pretty well. I think my front bumper was about where your head would've been.
I thought maybe that lapped cars get auto ghosted, but later on in the MX5 race that didn't seem to be the case.
From what I have seen, all lap cars are ghosted.
F40: At some point we will have to run SS5 again in our cars and see if I can catch up to you if you get into that first corner first... or catch you at all... that wall may have saved me.
Practice at Indy: I would love to, and I HIGHLY suggested for everyone. Not sure if I will have the time to sync up, but please post here when you are doing a session.
Practicing solo for this next race won't be as useful as it was on the other tracks. Practicing in a drafting pack will be good practice for the race. Hopefully I'll be able to find some time where some of you guys are online before next week's race.
I did a few laps at Indy last night in each car. Only changed gearing from SS5 so far. My laptimes were a lot closer between SBC and MX5 than the other tracks. I get a higher top speed in the SBC car but have to slow for the corners. In the MX5 it is just on the gas the whole time.
I think Indy is where I'll be able to do a lot of damage in the A110.

The matte orange MX5 with crazy yellow-green wheels is me. It does look funny in the glow of the streetlights, but in the daylight it is all orange.

Yeah, I noticed that. Running that should reduce the weight of the car, so I am guessing you are running ballast to get back up to minimum weight? You need to remove the hood before next week, as it is against the rules.

Seems to me that "all other modifications are allowed" means that CF hoods are ok. They are not aero. Am I missing something? Doesn't matter one way or the other to me, but it seems legal based on the posted rules on page 1 of this thread.

For MX5 cars: They are weight reduction. 5kg. I will add it to the rules on page 1 to ensure clarity.

Ah ok... yeah, i'm running ballast. I may have missed that clarification later in the thread, then. I'll remove it before next race for sure. Sorry about that!
Got it. Guess I should've looked at the pics closer. Assumed you were talking SBC. I thought it was clear for MX5 that no weight reduction allowed.
I can understand it, but still wonder on the legality of Chimp's Ginetta. (must be ballasted up to be legal)

MY10psi and I had some good fun close racing in the MX5 race for a good while. I dont remember how many laps we were back and forth for, but we had some drafting battles on the straight.

The Ginetta is "grandfathered in"... if you remember, the original minimum for SBC was 450kg, but the lobby won't allow for anything less than 500, so it got moved up. Chimp had already selected the Ginetta, and was the only one affected by the change.

Yea, I watched it! There were 2 really good races in MX5. Skiggity and I for about 3 laps until I skipped off 3 walls, and then you guys went for almost the entire second half of the race. Good clean racing too.
