I have been noticing this for the online races also. I was a good few seconds slower at Daytona if I pushed then in practice and I noticed that the car was on the edge of traction in some of the banked turns where it wasn't noticeable off-line.
Seems like maybe traction drops a bit online.
Some of the previous posts made me think that it was ok after all to change my car in the SBC. I'm sure willing if the rules have changed. Let me know please.
GRM Drift at Tsukuba.......let's do it!!!

Brad, Nick, aircooled, anyone who knows . . . please answer this.
Once you've ran a race, you are locked into that car for the rest of the series.

You can paint it a different color if you want. Although if I were you I'd keep it white since next week is in the snow. It will be your stealth advantage.

Speaking of next week's race, Brad I do not believe there is a pit at that track. Are we still going to leave mechanical damage to heavy for that race?
Hadn't considered that. I will run a test. We may swap to light for that week.

of course you hadn't lol I also vote for no penalties for tonight, because I can see that being a REALLY big upset for a lot of us tonight, just my 48/2(9+3) cents.
yeah Graefin keep the white, it'll help from the rest crashing into you besides I love the MX5. But as said before, once your locked in with that car, no switching BUT you can and I encourage you to paint it a JDMDriftYo colour

The snow will be a blast. I ran a few laps there a couple nights ago after getting frustrated at sliding into the wall at the 2nd chicane one too many times.

Don't cut the chicanes. Don't ram anyone.
Oh I know I know lol just saying

Nick, I would've beaten you last night if penalties were off. I earned a 9 second short cut penalty at chicane number 2 on the second to last lap. Other than contact with another car it is pretty hard to get a penalty at Monza, but I figured out a way.

Thanks Brad. That's what I thought. I just think there's got to be something I've got that does rain better than my 110S Mazda. That's the one I was referring to not the MX5
Hey, I'd paint it purple with pink wheels if it would make it faster get a little grip.
Yea, white to blend in with the snow should make it stealthy. No wait, is that a good thing??? I doubt I'll be in front of anyone to worry about getting hit but some of you fast guys might not see me when you're lapping me.
I have another question. It IS true that we can drive on the green painted part of the chicanes w/o a penalty, RIGHT???

Yea, I love white cars. The last new car I bought was a white Wolfsburg Edition Jetta with 16" BBS wheels. I loved that car.
I know what JDMDrift means but you lost me on the Yo colour<img part.

True. Green painted surface and curbing is penalty free. That changes two of the 3 chicanes a bunch.
The only penalty I could manage to get was from going too far inside on turn 4 and getting my right side tires into the grass. Left side tires in the grass - ok. All four tires earned me a 9.0 sec penalty.
haha nice, a MKIV Jetta?
Yo is just a fanbois ending to the term I guess haha to example the JDMDrift even more Our MX5 series is CERTAINLY JDMDrift certified
I don't recall what MK it was, but it was 2 generations ago. The Wolfsburg was said to be the favorite European options. Turbo, stiffer susp. bigger wheels and tires and several other options.
Thanks T.J. When I practiced I tried to keep all four tires in the green. Not having to stay on the outside of the curb in the chicanes make a huge difference. I got my times to come down a lot but no where near some of the previous posts. I've played with settings, lines, and anything else I can think of and it's beyond me how you guys are so fast. Trying to be competitve has already caused me to get a bit better though. I never thought my 62 yr. old brain and rather mangled hands could learn to use mt and the triggers. I didn't say master it, just use it.
I hope you're planning another series that I can run all the races in. For what it's worth, how about maxing out the MX5s with at least sports soft tires for one class, and a class for the equivalent to the Japanese GT300 series: 320ish. max. hp, full race, a min. and max. weight to be decided. Make sure the rules include rally cars and all the small bore race cars available. Use race/hard tires. There are some great cars that could run in it and all of us should have them. It would take a little work to try to weed out any car that could be forseen to have a huge unfair advantage but theoretically the hp and weight limits should take care of it. It might be interesting to see what we all show up with. That's what makes the SBC class so much fun to me. I didn't even try several of the cars running in SBC like the lotus and the Alpine because in GT3 I thoght they were too hard to drive without decent tires. Now, seeing how well the Europa and the Alpine do I wish I'd tried them all before deciding. I really did'n't have enough time though. The funny thing to me is how fast the Alpine was after it passed me in pratice and then seeing it start to bounce off the walls ahead of me on the banking @ Daytona. Must have hit some oil, lol.
Well we had a GRM and CMS series before this and supposedly a hot hatch series next
Hey, manual and triggers, more power to you! But at least for me and I think you'll get used to them but they helped me TONS. I'm just honestly amazed and excited that a 62 year old is playing on a PS3 and in GT5......and controller lol
and yeah, MKIV, by the way it sounds

Graefin, this rain race at Monza has converted me to using manual transmission at least for SBC. It is harder than the auto, but with so little traction it sure helps to be able to short shift. I am looking forward to the race tonight, but I'm afraid that I won't be in competition for the lead, but hopefully will have some one to race against. I haven't been able to get a lap under 2:40 yet.
I think Brad has been working on a 'hot hatch' series for the next one. Not sure about the details, but I'm guessing he is open to input. (I see Nick typed his answer while I was syping mine, lol)
I haven't tried the triggers with the manual shifting yet. Still using the buttons for gas and brake. I use he right trigger as the e brake and the left trigger as the rear view for now. I need to have the e brake handy sometimes to get the marcos to rotate. When it starts to plow through a corner due to too much entry speed aoften times a quick touch of the e brake will get me pointed in the right direction. FWD cars are a curse and a blessing I guess.

Whatever class is decided on will be fine with me. I'll be there and give it my best shot.
I began having severe nuerological problems 11 yrs. ago I think from years of being up to my elbows in toxic chemicals. I never read the warnings and was too careless. That plus years of very high stress took its toll. I'm doing better now and I really do think that video games helped re-wire my brain. I know my reflexes are slipping, but the very fast thought processes required to do this really do help. I just recently parked a World of Warcraft acct. I had for 3.5 yrs. A lot of fun at first but rather boring now. Good to race again. I find it amazing that we can be seperated by great distances and successfully race in real time. I hooked up directly to the router and an not aware of any lag.
Ooooo... a hot hatches class?
I can has Mitsubishi Cyborg?!?!?!?
haha I love mine! I have so many hawt hatchees!
