I bought and modded a Europa somewhere around mid-season when I finally saw one on the used car lot. I don't think it is the Europa that we don't have anything for, I think it is aircooled. I didn't thought the Europa was harder to drive and in the limited testing I did with it (only drove it a handful of laps) I never really figured it out.
Brad, I think my idea of no points for not meeting a minimum number of races would just make things more complicated. It looks I would be one point closer to you and one point closer to Apex if Tom was dropped from the points for only running 2 races. It would be a bigger pain to administer and keep track of. I got the idea from the club I used to autox with. To win a class for the season there were a minimum number of events required to be in the running I think. In this case it doesn't make much sense.
If you want, I can keep the spreadsheet up for the next series. That's not a problem.

If Nick could stay online and finish more MX5 races the final race might've been a different story. He placed well in the races he didn't DNF. Good job aircooled and Apex on your championships!
Thanks Guys!
I have been really trying to reduce driving mistakes (hard to do in the Elan).
I really like the spec series format as it lets you feel your driving ability and not just the comparison between different cars. I also like that the MX5 is easier to drive, so instead of concentrating on keeping the car straight, its about nailing the braking point, the line, and the throttle on early enough.
AllAircooled, you really had me on that qualifying cheat. I was having a hell of a time figuring out where you found the time. We really did have a bit of a duel there. In the MX5 race i was able to continuously lap within a few tenths of consistency. My pace fell off a bit mid race, but I regrouped and kept speeding off. If you want I will share my setup I used for Trial Mtn I know I am probably more oversteer biased then others.
I honestly have been much more focused on MX5 then SBC, I just didnt feel that the Elan could touch the Europa.

I'll be in my lounge. Practicing. I think I am done adjusting my setup.
Pics from the races. First off SBC. This really was a great race to watch for the first 3 laps! I don't know if the replays can be sent to other people, but if they can, and anyone wants to see this, I will send them a copy, its a must see.
The start. Seems normal enough. I believe the Elan as just gotten one of those light tap penalties after sliding past the Celica.
Moments later the Celica start the drift competition. I am not sure he saw many cars after that.
I eventually caught up to F40 and got beside him before the chicane. I wisely decided to back off at this point and finally got him at turn 1. You can see Brad in 3rd, who was doing quite well in the beginning of this race.
Some more close racing. You can see F40 on my butt in a big way going into the tunnel.
F40 starts getting a bit more aggressive and a lot more sideways
One of these slide going into the tunnel turned F40 into a concrete inspector, it was quite a sharp flick after a slide, straight into the wall.
A second or so later, one of F40 friends shows up.
Brad gets in on the action.
Right after the above image, the Elan smacks the back of the Mini. The result were 4 cars with engine damage and serious wheel damage to at least two wheels! Needless to say, pits stops followed.
On to MX5:
At the Start. Brad leads the way and gets into a bit of "trouble"
Brads "trouble" kid of scatters the field:
A 3 way dual results:
More close racing:
GTP eventually dropped back (I think it was another tap penalty) and I followed F40 around for a bit. I did get past him for a bit, but he drafted past me in the back straight and got the inside for the sweeper. This pic shows basically the end of my race since this is a pretty fast section. Even though Nick is on the inside coming out and I am coming in, I get the penalty, oh well. Based on his pacing after this, I never would have caught him, but it would have been fun to follow him a bit closer.
First, I want to congratulate Aircooled and Apexcarver on their championships. You guys give us something to aspire to.
Also, ac. thanks for posting the pictures. It's amazing how realistic they look. Especially the background. I keep forgetting to save the replays.
Nick, thanks for the offer of drifting lessons. Maybe we can get together before long for some instruction.
Oh go figure! Brad ghosts AFTER i hit him.
Great pics! I think i saved the replay of this one as well. I need to get mucho drifting pictures up!
In reply to 92CelicaHalfTrac:
That's something I don't understand, what causes one of the cars to "ghost". I noticed that @ the start of the MX5 race, IIRC, my car and the one to my left came together and the other car was instantly moved over to the left and "ghosted". Not the first time I've seen this but I never understood what was happening.
I don't remember competing in the MX5 race
Aircooled, the pic of me going so JDM sideways is so sick!!I love it!! I had somethig for you, then snap oversteer screwed it all up for me
I have to teach Ben how to Douglas first then Graefin how to Drift
I think you have me confused for F40
Did I mess up the picture descriptions? I get pretty confused between the screen names on PSN and here. Heck, I totally forgot the first few laps of SBC when I described them earlier. I think it was because I was concentrating so much trying not to make a mistake or get caught up in anything.

Nick's MX5 is lotus themed (green with yellow wheels) IIRC. Haven't seen it in months since he usually gets booted out during the SBC race.
Graefin, I think it may have been me that you had contact with. I'm the orange MX5. The ghosting is strange. I know that when someone gets a penalty they are ghosted. Sometimes during a wreck the car gets ghosted, but not always. If Nick would've ghosted during the SBC race in the tunnel I would've been right on aircooled's tail instead of all broken down. Lapped traffic also gets ghosted. You can drive right through them when they are ghosted.
In reply to T.J.:
I sort of assumed the first part but I didn't know that lapped cars are ghosted. That should come into play @ Tsukuba. I really didn't know who it was. You and I have had several very close battles though. Unfortunately, they didn't last long enough. So that was you in first at our practice Tsukuba race last week.

In reply to Graefin10:
Yep. I used to have gold wheels on my MX5, then bought some news ones and painted them a strange blue color. After digging your white car, I went with white wheels. Looks like a creamsicle I guess.
I wish my godawful berkeleying internet responded to the GT5 server better and you would see my MX5 more
I love the color combos we have lol
In reply to NickF40:
That's for sure. Why is it doing that? Mine does it a lot during thunderstorms and peak useage times. Fortunately things have settled down by the sheduled time for the races and so far it has stayed on.

Is there any real reason beyond the obvious Jap bias in the game for a fully modified Viper ACR on race softs to have so much trouble with a Nissan 390 road car on sport tires?
Because I should not take 4 laps just to catch up to it when the Viper is normally in first about halfway through lap 2.

The 390 is a poor excuse for a "road car." Check out the specs on it some time. It's a full on purpose built race car that probably has more in common with LeMans prototypes than any "road car" out there.

I did a good number of laps at Tsukuba over the weekend. Left my lounge up and when I had a few minutes would stop in and do a few laps. 31 laps will be a lot of laps. I think the most I've done in one stint so far has been about 20 laps. I think I could shave off some more time if I could manage manual shifting. My peak torque and HP are so low compared to where the auto shifts that I almost never operate at the right rev range. I did manual shifting at Indy and that was no problem to master. I tried it again at Monza and that didn't work out so well for me, but not really due to shifitng problems. This track is so busy I'm not sure if I will be able to learn to reliably use the manual shifting or not before Wednesday. I did a few online races with some random guy with a TVR color changing colored Marcos. He was using ABS and traction control. Pretty much whoever got the holeshot won the race unless the leader made a mistake and ended up in the sand somewhere. Hard track to pass on this track, that is for sure. The good news is there is a lot of runoff areas, so other than car to car contact it may be a little more difficult to sustain damage here than other tracks.
Brad, are you going to announce the starting order method ahead of time for this race or just pick like normal?

What were you hitting in the Marcos? Don't know if you were around when i popped into your lounge, but i was down in the 1:17s with a 115hp beast.
I was messing around with the Mazda Autozam AZ-1 lol. That thing is HILARIOUS.
hahahaha
I think my best when running with TJ was like low 1:16's high 15's. But also my tires didn't last more than like 8 laps..........for reasons i'm not going to mention I don't know how you even saw behind me TJ but I seem to run faster around the last corner......sliding.
