Hunter I watched the incident again this morning with a little bit clearer head and what I saw was that I did a quick swerve to the left to try to get back inside you and you were in the mid-left of the track. You braked just an instant before I had to and since I was right on you I couldn't react in time. You're right about some close racing up front and throughout the field The thing is it's necessary to be aggressive and take some chances at times both in the virtual and real world. We've all been witness to some really bonehead moves in the real world. At least we don't have to go to the hospital and start looking for a new tub to start building a new car.

I leaning towards that car as well. Mine is white + colorshift, with white wheels, and wearing my standard #20. Then again, I may run the RX7 TC just cause. It is Chrome Green with black shoes.

I still have a few cars to test on Spa to get it down to my final candidates, then I'll test those on some of the custom tracks to see which is going to be best able to handle the different environments.

Also, just for the record, the pic of the TC practice looked awesome. Great variety of cars! How was the actual race? Any stand outs, good / bad?

A quick comment on TC practice: I was presently surprised to find that I could drift the car slightly, not nearly as much as the GT or Saloon cars, but it is still there. The race was only two laps and seemed to have a lot of learning involved (and touching). I currently have two candidates for cars. I need to do some more testing on a variety of tracks to see which one I like.

ABS Note: ABS did seem to show up in a slightly negative way this week. As an example, when I was doing a bit of dueling with Bael in the Commodore, he was doing way better with braking and did tap me once because of this. Just try to stay aware of the ABS less among us, I think it might only be Hunter, Brad and I.

GT: A small turnout. I was pleasantly surprised to see Bael doing very well for at least the first few laps, made for some good racing. I eventually got in front of Bael and Grea. About half way through the race I was still very good with tires (maybe 80%) and certainly didn't NEED tires at that point. I decided to pit anyway so I would have fresh tires for the end and to keep it somewhat interesting. Well, it turned out that neither Bael or Grea was interested in pitting, so the chase was on.

I slowly pulled up on the two, and with a few laps left I could see the tires were starting to go. I got Bael and with 3 laps left I was on Grea. I was considering a dramatic last lap pass, but decided passing on the front straight with another full lap left was a more prudent move.

Saloon: Big showing for this one. I was a bit worried about a pile up in turn one, but most of the field held back on turn 1, so that was nice. The Audi of course shot ahead, and nearly as quickly ran off the course in one of the first turns. Grea got a great start with (I believe) Bael (another good run for him).

Grea and I eventually got a rather good lead on the pack and then things got interesting. I was right on Grea at about lap 6, just waiting for an opportunity. Then my driving issues started. I don't know why, but for some reason I was having a big problem taking that hairpin after the tunnel. I was following Grea into that turn and for some reason got way to close and tapped him off into the sand. I got front damage from this. I waited for Grea at the next corner, and fortunately Bael had falling behind enough that the did not pass us.

I expected to see Grea pull into the pits (I could see he had rear damage) but he pushed on (I expect to make the half way point). I almost expected to see him spin off a corner, but he was doing fine. I just paced from behind with my front damage. We both pitted at the same time and came out withing a second of each other.

I was doing fine until I got stupid on that same corner again and gave myself front damage again (!!!). I though I was done, but I did eventually catch Grea again and was right on his butt with a lap to go. All set to pass him on the front stretch... I got on the power too early in that last hairpin and half spun!! Argghhh!! It was going to be close, but I messed it up. Oh well, Grea ran a great race (I was worried his hands would freeze up) so he deserved it. But I was close!!

Tracks: I did do a quick survey of custom tracks and it's looking pretty good. I will try and document the names and configs later and post them for confirmation. Then I can see what sort of track list I can come up with for next season.

Shuffle: Another thing that I NEED to do is figure out what sort of pacing we can do for the shuffle (how long for the race, how long between races). If anyone wants to play with this, go for it and let me know what you find. I am far more interesting in a number of small sprint races than any races of length.

GT: Smooth and creamy, like high end butter. DB9 was doing great, the only issue I had, was on lap 3 I got minor damage on a corner I easily took flat out on every lap BUT that one. Cause the car slid into the grass and tapped the wall enough to hurt me. I should have pit then and there, would have helped me later I think. But I didn't, I waited till lap 12 to pit and ended back up in third about 45 seconds down. Managed to cut 20 some odd seconds off the gap, but it wasn't going to be enough. Could have been a no pit race for me if I hadn't clipped that wall I do believe. It seems backwards to me(at least for the first few laps) that the DB9 was cornering faster than the RX8, but the 8 was blowing away the 9 on the straights.

I think I took a high end sports car and made a short course monster somehow. There's nothing to get out of that car once I hit the top of 5th gear but it corners like a boss.

Saloon: Knock off high end butter. Largely great, crashed three times. Had a decent start on the first few corners. Screwed up at one point and lost any hopes of catching Grae and Air. Spent the rest of my night going back and forth with RMD. And by back and forth, it was basically one of us would mess up, the other would get by and disappear, then they would screw up and get passed.

I had a ton of damage at the finish and seriously thought he was gonna catch me by the end.

Good, for some reason I thought they'd all be the same color. Mine is matt black with color shift trim. My RX7 TC is orange IIRC. I like it too and was very surprised at the times I turned with it. That thing is a little bad ass. I saw your post about Spa being your favorite, I like it too but am realizing that if and when someone really nails every corner the time variations could be huge. Eau Rouge alone can gain or loose several seconds. Also, the series of fast sweepers from T16 to 20 @ the chicanne can gain a lot of time if you can take them flat or nearly flat in my case. Can anyone take Eau Rouge without lifting in a TC? I'm sneaking up on it but the penalty for getting your timeing wrong is high. Imagine going through there in a F1 car. But IF you make it

I can take it flat out in the SuperAutobacs MR-S and the TC i was running last night.

However... both are kindof down on PP, so i'm not sure how relevant that is.

Just try to stay aware of the ABS less among us, I think it might only be Hunter, Brad and I. My response: I've given this some thought and that's definitely what controller users need to do. I wrecked Hunter because I fully intended to try and inside move to get back by him and saved my braking till the last instant, however, his car was partially in my lane and he had to brake just a tiny bit sooner, thus contact. So I too learned a lesson and that is to learn to brake at an earlier point IF you are following a wheel user in the same lane as he is. Then my driving issues started. I don't know why, but for some reason I was having a big problem taking that hairpin after the tunnel. I was following Grea into that turn and for some reason got way to close and tapped him off into the sand. My response: Part of the reason for that tap is because my tires were already going off and I too was having to tip toe around that corner. I had slowed to a crawl and you didn't anticipate my being that slow. Let's face it, we're having to process a lot of information all the time to play this game. . Oh well, Grea ran a great race (I was worried his hands would freeze up) so he deserved it. But I was close!! My response: My fingers were dead by that time. My right fore finger kept slipping off of the gas trigger. I have to "think" to make them work instead of doing it instinctively. The same in the GT race buy at the end of that one they were just hurting badly. It's just another step along my personal road of aging. My dad always said, "it beats the alternative".

I tend to lift just before entering it, then hard on the gas through it... does that count?

I've made it through without lifting 1 time in a 450hp Evora, but slide wildly out of control on the next attempt.

See, now you all see that, I got into the room and stayed in fine!!! Now if only I would have remembered and attempted it when the whole night started. Ben, the Legnum wagon is SICK looking!!

The new TC or whatever class looks good, I love the Calibra for only one reason, it throws sparks everywhere but I'm going to use a TC car, I don't give a berkeleying rip if it's down on PP or not haha I won't be able to join and race anyway haha I think i'm going to use my RX7 TC, it makes the best noise out of 97% of the cars in the game and it's a smooth car to drive. I do like the GTR's too, especially the R33 and 32, so i'll have to do some testing. Do you guys want to know MY color combos LMAO

Grae, well the R35 is that black color change with neon baby blue wheels, R32 is the green/blue with bright metallic orange wheels, R33 is red/green/purple with neon blue wheels, R34 is the chrome silver/red with dark green wheels, the RX7 is the bright orange with the neon lime green for the wheelsand the Miata is the BRG with neon yellow wheels I went ape$h1t with the color pack AND since I got two of each lol I changed the Mustang's wheels and painted them a blue/green color change, they looks so good! Yeah, that's just a color combo taste of the TC's, you haven't seen my others haha my F40 is metallic blue with the bright neon lime green for the wheels as is my R34 street car.

Can't compete with Nick on colors.

Worst combos I have are an SLR that I painted a Merc pink that came on the slk, same with it's wheels. A flourescent orange F40, a Mclaren F1 with bright red wheels that are painful to look upon and some other random crap like that.

Don't remember who Anal Hills (Celica?), or Eifel Funner's (Hunter?) is.

I think First Try was F40's. I am expecting a revision at some point. Let me know if you revise yours so I can update my list.

Make sure to name your track. As a reminder, goofy or mildly offensive names are encouraged.

Bought a new RM car tonight. An 04 Lotus 111R RM. Yellow with blue wheels. #77 of course. I'd hate to try to drive it without TC. I entered a room @ 570pp and kept barely getting beat by a couple of them. Just wanted to see what they're all about. Those two guys were driving the wheels off of them. Fun racing with the group.

Would you believe that my R35 TC can draft off of a Lotus 111.

First try was mine. Ditch it. I have created a new one - Night Moves.

I got F40'd in the GT race after a few laps. Dammit! I was trying to be smooth and concentrate, but the server didn't care.

In Saloon, I was more comfortable, but from the start, I boned it. After the blast to the front, I was checking mirrors because I didn't want to tangle up anyone. Ok, well, that and the Yellow Sub is a teensy wee bit heavier than the 135i. I had fun swapping places with Grizz. I figured he had to have some damage, as I was making some ground in the last few laps.

I doubt I'll be in for the next series based on my work schedule if the first 3 weeks of the new job are a good indication of things to come. Too many 10-12 hour days so far and I even had to go in for a few hours today (Saturday). They do pay me overtime, but I 'd rather have the time at home than the little bit of extra money in my check.

I don't have a custom track, have not bought Spa or the new touring cars yet. How many weeks till the new season starts?

You'll need to log in to post.
